  1. I went with a Safariland 014 Holster and a ELS belt and pouches for my Tanfoglio Gold Custom. The Safariland gear is a bit more expensive than most options, but I really like the modularity of it. I shoot Open, some Limited, and 3-Gun, and with all the right pouches, I can use that rig in all 3 sports.
  2. I never got the new issue. Hoping the Aug/Sept issue finds its way to my mailbox. Also: Yes for a digital version!
  3. Just recently got a few test loads worked up. Powder is very nice! Gun recoils very softly with it, and it's fast! I figured 6 grains would be minor, but nope 1330fps with a 130gr! So, my next batch I'll drop down around 5.6-5.8, see where those chrono at.
  4. My .38 Super Gold Custom. Double AA 3-in-1 Mount, Grey CMore SlideRide, Henning Mags. Otherwise Bone Stock. These pics were taken before it's first range trip. It's a bit dirtier now... Here it is in it's Safariland 014 Holster on ELS belt. The Holster is awesome!
  5. I was using Power Pistol for my loads, which was working okay. However, talking with a couple other Gold Custom shooters at my club, and they heartily recommended IMR 7625. So, I ordered a few pounds a while back, and it just arrived on Friday. So I will be starting load development with it soon.....as soon as I find some primers!
  6. 5.37KG = 11.8lbs 6.15KG = 13.5lbs I don't know the weight of the spring that was in the gun from the factory, but it is lighter than the 11 lb one. I refer to it as the 'default' spring. I can say that in my Gold Custom, the default spring wouldn't always let factory Winchester +P ammo cycle! It works fine for my bunny fart Minor load. I use the 11 lb spring for my Major load, which is right at 170PF with a 130 gr bullet.
  7. *Casts Thread Resurrection* I use the new Safariland 014 for my Gold Team. Love it. I also shoot 3-gun, and have day dreamed about going open there so I can use the Gold Team. However, I've only used it in a couple of USPSA matches. It's been great so far, but I haven't had to run, crawl, jump, etc with it, so I can't say how it would do in a more 'physical' match like 3-Gun.
  8. I also just got a ELS belt system recently. I need a couple more mag pouches for my Tanfoglio Gold Custom (the Safariland ones are pricey, and don't seem to be all that great from the one I have). I've been wondering how to modify other brands to work with the ELS system. Good to know that Blade-Tech stuff might work with it. One of my plans for the belt is to put my Limited rig on there, which uses a Blade-Tech DOH. I'm thinking of just buying something cheap, like a Fobus belt slide pouch, and drill and mount those funky screw mounts, and see how that works. Yeah, Open Div is expensive, but dropping out $40+ bucks for a plastic mag pouch is a bit silly....
  9. I've run PowerPistol, and I agree, it's flashy! When running it through my 9mm SP01, I was asked several times if it 'was a 10 mm'. Heh. I have a test batch of ammo for my new .38 Super, primarily cause I remembered all the flash, and am hoping it works well in the comp!
  10. After some digging here, I came across a post with a size: M4-0.7mm. I measured the gun, and went to the hardware store. Got a set of screws for both sides. I have a single sided Double AA mount. I need to trim the screws down a bit to not drag on the slide, but I am just about in business! I'll post back with final dimensions for future reference.
  11. Finally got my mount and optic for my Gold Custom. But, of course, no screws to put the mount on the Gun! Does anyone know the specs of the screws for it? It's been sitting in the safe for a month waiting on the mount. Hoping I can find the screws this weekend. If not, I'll order a set from Henning on Monday. But man, I want to get it going this weekend!
  12. Very nice! I like how the dot stayed dang near perfectly still! I;ve shot some Power Pistol 9mm, and even in daylight, I get some compliments and questions about what the heck I'm shooting! Not every day your 9mm gets compared to a 10mm or a .357 mag...
  13. Wow! Wish I would have found that! I just ordered a .38 Super, and ordered a Grey C-More for it. Needless to say....I paid a tad more than $900!
  14. Well, I just ordered one in .38 Super. I'm the same way as the OP, love my CZs, but the Czechmate is still a bit too rich for my blood right now. I almost went with 9mm too, since I already have a stock pile of components and load data for that cartridge. But, went with the .38 Super cause, hey, it's a Open Race Gun, .38 Super works too dang well for that role!
  15. I shoot limited minor with my CZ SP01. I like the 9mm so much, I am seriously wanting to go Open Minor with a 9mm Czechmate.
  16. Some good points so far. I often tell myself the mantra of Speed Comes with Accuracy. I was thinking about my earlier post, thinking about what it is about a reload that resets my mind, and I think it is not the reload, but me stopping and regaining my sight picture, focusing subconsciously on regaining the accuracy. I'm still not sure how to learn to recognize that I am 'in trouble' and trigger that mental reset sooner, but at least I have some things to think about to regain my focus.
  17. I get flustered easily. I then have trouble recognizing that I am messing up, and then slow to fix what I am messing up, and then getting back in the game and not letting that issue mess with me the rest of the CoF or the whole day. I've even noticed it at work. When I mess up, I tend to mess up big, and then it just snowballs throughout the day. A friend and I discussed this, and he noticed that, at least in regards to the matches, that once I have to STOP and do something different, I seem to get back on it a bit better. A good example is having a reload to interrupt my screwing up. A recent 3-gun match saw me really struggle on some shotgun targets. Took forever to clear the first half of the stage, missing everywhere, flinching, etc. I reloaded my Mossberg 500, and BoomBoomBoom, cleared the last three targets so fast and clean that I drew applause from the audience. I have gotten better about being able to shake off a bad stage. Used to be, if I screwed up early on, my whole day was off as I would dwell on that early mistake, and try to make up for it. We all know how that works out. So, that is better, but I still sometimes get hung up on mistakes. So, anyway, my questions for you all are: 1)How to recognize that I am messing up? I am starting to be able to call my shots, yet I will stand there, calling shots, watching them miss, and continuing missing while calling shots. (sometimes I call a good shot that misses, sometimes, yes, I let the shot go when I know I'm not ready for it) I don't seem to have a little voice to scream 'STOP! You're doing it wrong!' 2)How to get back on track? My friend says he stops, takes a couple breaths, and regains his sight picture. Since the reload seems to be my 'reset', and I have plenty of mags, should I just do a reload, or is that going to become a crutch? 3)Any other tips for not getting Flustered and getting over it when you do?
  18. I love my Vertx pants for shooting sports. I am also excited because they are coming out with a lightweight material for summer. I have been eying the TruSpec pants as well. 5.11's just don't fit me very well.
  19. Very informative thread! I am actually preparing to go Limited this month, using a FO front sighted CZ SP01. The transition to the SP was pretty easy, I was shooting a CZ75B. The FO sight however, is all new to me. I will keep some of these tips in mind. I was already falling into the 'It's just like a red dot!' mindset trap, so I will make sure in my dry fire practice that I am actually verifying my sight picture and calling my shots as I should be.
  20. I use a high grip on both my SS 75B and my 97B. I rest my thumb on the safety. Only problem I have, especially on the 75, is my long thumbs occasionally activate the slide stop. I have debated on whether or not I need to modify that lever to prevent that. I have a pretty decent pic of my grip. I'll post it when I get home. Here's the shot of my grip. Actually, not that great of a grip, you can see my thumb is not on the safety, and dipped down under my support thumb (my old school grip).

    Self Blame

Very good advice. I have a very bad habit of 'whining' about various things, a poor shooting performance being on the most common rants. I finally realized, with some verbal help from friends, that I was complaining about something, and in my ranting, explaining what I need to do to fix it, yet I wouldn't do anything to actually address the problem. It's like I expected the simple act of ranting about a problem would fix it. So, I did something I rarely do: I made a new year's resolution to 'Not Bitch, But Fix'. It's helped. Things like 'Man, my reloads are too slow!' have now become: 'That reload was much faster than last time, good! or 'You dropped the gun out of your line of sight and bobbled that reload. Do it right next time.' Between a change in my practice over the winter, and my 'new' attitude, I got several compliments at the first match of this year. Good stuff like 'You're much faster than last year', 'Nice quick reloads', and my favorite: 'Who are you and where did you put Dave?' I have come to learn by talking with various 'good' shooters, Brian's book, and this and another forum, that the GunGames really are more of a mental game than anything else. My biggest competitor and critic is myself, and only I can deal with and overcome 'him' and his expectations.
  22. I have a Kadet Kit I use specifically for practicing with my CZ-75. Mainly because that way the gun is the 'same': Mags are same size, trigger pull the same, sights the same, etc etc. I even use my same holster, although the kadet slide doesn't quite fit the holster right. I like it over straight dry fire. Hard to follow the front sight through recoil and transition to targets during recoil when there's no recoil, eh? Now, I will say, like the others, the .22 kit is just another tool. Dry fire is very important, as I have been learning this winter. The .22 is showing me some things that I 'let slide' during dry fire. It was really cool, as a fairly new 'BE' student, to finally see that front sight lift, call my shot, and the front sight settled right on the splat of the steel. You don't get that staring at your wall in the basement at home. And yeah, I can shoot 300 rounds of .22 for much less than even reloaded 9mm, and I can shoot 300 rounds of 22 and not be anywhere as fatigued as with 9mm. PLUS, being rim fire, you get to handle the occasion jam, FTE, FTF, light strike, etc. Definitely always put your 9mm back on though at the end of the day and run a few more drills. 9mm feels like a friggin Magnum after a couple hours of .22! Oh...so my long winded point here is: Definitely get a Kadet kit for your CZ if you're going to do .22 practice. It's silly and counterproductive to use a different .22 if you're shooting a CZ at the match.

    CZ75

Yes, us lucky KC locals can take guns directly to CZ. (I delivered my CZ97B there earlier this year to have it replaced. Frame cracked.) Anyway, the building is located right by the Fairfax plant, south of the river, next to the road that leads over the river and goes past the casino on the other side of the river. The building is on the NE corner of the intersection, and is unmarked.
  24. well, at least now those covers of the old pulp fiction detective novels are correct! you know, the ones showing the whole cartridge launching out of a snub-nose revolver! LoLz....
