  1. Thanks Dillon I going to first try to measure the plates and compare there dimensions, if that looks good Im going to try swapping the dies to another tool head and see if thats fixes the issue.
  2. That's what I figured. No...the shell plate is not too loose or too tight. This press has been running absolutely perfect for the last year with no issues at all.(knock on wood) Have loaded hundreds and hundreds of rounds with no rejects.. I can't ask for a better running press..
  3. I got a good one for the group. While setting up a tool head to start reloading 270 Win. I noticed that the shell plate for the 270 is the same plate used for 45ACP. Good to know if I ever break or damage the one out of the 45 conversion kit. But just for giggles I left the brand new shell plate for the 270 in place and installed my 45ACP tool head and run some rounds though the machine.. Every case that I inserted in station 1 would jam trying to go into the resizing die. In order to get it to go in I had to tickle the index sprocket. every case.. I said something's off. Swapped the shell plate to my old #1 and everything works perfect. Reinstalled the new #1 shell plate again, jams. Open to some ideas. Thanks Jim
  4. I repaired 2 CV500 tumblers close to a year ago. The problem I found was the armature shaft bearings sit in a silcone cups in both end frames. The cups loosen up and wont hold the amature straight and the armature will rub on the field frame. (I think the motor getting overly hot is the culprit) I removed the cups and used a small zip tie and lined the bearing housing with it. It was a tight fit but it worked. I now set the tumblers on a plastic milk crate with a small cheap fan blowing up at the motor to keep it cool. No problems since then.
  5. Case gage 15161 Deluxe Quick Change Assembly 22058
  6. I used some machined washers that where just thick enough to fit between the link arms and the frame of the frame of the press. They took about 95% of the lateral play out
  7. This is something else I found a year or so that caused the shell plate to bind or drag when rotating. I found that where the shell plate bolt seats in the index sprocket, the spocket seat was not perfectly flat where the underside of the shell plate bolt rides.. I took some fine valve lapping compound and coated the sprocket and reinstalled everything loosely. After about 4 minutes of rotating the shellplate and tighting the bolt the tight spot disappeared. Cleaned everything up, relubed and its good to go. No more dragging or plate wobble, Smooth as glass.
  8. Slow and steady gets you 10 rounds a minute http://vid64.photobucket.com/albums/h182/james5m/2F63D9EE-F79C-4EF2-8010-16ED9123956F_zps83x3hhvh.mp4
  9. Check the pin on the bottom of the ram where it connects to the crank..The set screw may have worked loose and caused the pin to walk out
  10. First take the operating rod(13869) & primer slide return spring(13928) off and move the primer slide in and out and see if it move smoothy in the housing. If you have overtighten the screws it will cause the housing to bulge and bind the slide. Check and see if the primer cup and punch has a installed height between 1.215 - 1.220 HTH Jim 9
  11. Did something like that with a oil ring scraper Tom.. Good thing I can run faster than most
  12. I have loaded tons of Win brass using only Federal primers and have had no issues. I would suggest checking the platform alignment. since your hanging just the edge of the primer.
  13. You might want to check with a good auto parts store and see if they stock the carbide cutting bits for a AAMCO brake lathe. I believe they are the same size
  14. I would try a loading session with sorted brass and see what the results are.. I think you will find your OAL alot closer. Works for me
  15. Same idea as Dirty but more up the sides. I used foil duct tape
  16. Are you using the correct pins for that caliber?
  17. I used a short peice of heat shrink on mine to take up the slack
  18. I can't get the Priming Seating Punch Assembly to go lower than 1.222" but it seems to be working. I have had the Primer seating punch break just below the lock screw and could not get the broken peice out. That made be the reason your punch height is so high
  19. Upgrade to the new one with the grease fitting
  20. Try STP or GM's EOS It hangs in there alot better.
  21. If your using thrust brg kit, try leaving 1 shim washer out and see if that works.
  22. Vacuum forming inside the powder measure tube?? Is that really possible??
