  4. Here is all the guys and gals that helped put it on. It was a pleasure to work with this group. Also, all the constructive criticism is welcomed, we will put on a better match next year with most of this input incorporated. Sheldon Blackwell
  5. Here are a few pics of the natural terrain at the range, very beautiful and perfect for a great 3-gun match.

  8. I like the idea of coaching jr's and newby's but not anyone else. Having a plan and executing it is 70% mental and 30% physical, If you have a team on your side with the mental part you will shoot better but its not just all you, its you and your team so I see it as an unfair advantage to someone not getting coached through the course of fire. If the rules allow it then its no big deal but If they say no coaching then it is cheating...plain and simple. Sheldon Blackwell
  9. I use the truglo sights on my M1 & M2, they are solid and completly adjustable. I do put some loctite between them and the vent rib to make sure they stay put. http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/default.aspx?productNumber=666597
  10. I have a custom rem 700 rebarreled in a Kreiger barrel that has the creedmoor chamber. It is a sweet shooting gun that I've been impressed with since day one. I've had another precision rig in 260 and was getting the same results from it, both shot a 140 Vmax or 139 lapua 2800 fps at 1/2 to 1 MOA out to 1000 with not much kick. The only advantage I see with a creedmoor is the factory ammo option. Hornady makes match ammo for about $26 a box of 20. Not bad for the results they give. I think the 260 is still a great option if you reload and probably better since there is more brass options available.
  11. I think they work, I just don't think they are needed for 3-gun but neither is a B.A.D. lever and it seems everyone but me has one of them so get the heatsink if you want to, its your gun.
  12. That looked very smooth. Nice transitions and reloads on the move. That also looked like a great place to shoot. Good job and keep sharing. I also think Rainier Arms is a great place to shop. Sheldon
  13. I had an LMT 10.5 that was about an MOA rifle, I never had any problems with it but if I wanted another shorty I'd probably build one, cheaper and the end result will probably be the same quality.
  14. I can make a custom one for you if you didn't find what you wanted. I draw it in autocad and print in pdf form.

  15. Me and several of my friends have kids getting to the age where we want them to start shooting. I have a 7 & 5 year old boys so I figure its time to get them going if they are safe and do what they are told. They do both of these very well, only problem was finding them a gun their size that they could grow with. So anyway, here is my build. I built it off my SBR reciever and I know not everyone has one and the people that do aren't going to use it for this but to me, it was a perfect fit since I don't like shooting short guns. JP trigger kit with the 4.5lb springs, Its needed more for the rimfire ammo than they boys AD precaution Troy mini grip colt M4 4 position stock, he shoots it all the way in off hand and at the 1st position prone. Model 1 sales 22 conversion kit for their barrels Model 1 Sales 22lr 11" barrel, I had it thinned down to .700 the whole way henning comp, modified Clark carbon fiber handguard cut down to 8.5" Aimpoint M2 There is no buffer or buffer spring or gas components. The whole thing weighs 5.4 pounds with the aimpoint and 15round black dog mag or 4.5 pounds without those 2. It cost as much as an off the shelf AR-15 and is worth every bit of it to me. Sheldon
  16. It seems that the club tried a 10 second penalty and that wasn't enough and then tried a 30 second penalty and that was too much so just like Goldilocks, maybe a 20 second penalty is just right. I do agree with Trapr, make the targets 4moa or so and see who can do it the fastest. I also agree with Doug, some of those targets were hard to spot correctly. I also agree with Shane, just show up, shoot and have some fun. The thing I like about this club and Sheldon Carruth is they will get it right, its just a matter of time.
  17. I'm with you Jesse, thats a fun match and I hope they have it. If they don't, There might be something in the works that would take its place in south Texas.
  18. Kenneth Stuteville has a post on snipers hide showing standard addaptors that he makes but I've got him to make several custom addaptors and all have turned out on the money. He is quick and does great work. The best way to get a hold of him is email, he'll get back to you the next day. ksville@wildblue.net
  19. Thanks to everyone that worked at this match, you guys are awesome and tuff for fighting the heat so 90 shooters could have a good time! I do agree with most of the comments about this being an odd match due to no long range and the prop guns but I understand trying to mix things up, it's still fun to pull the trigger on the clock. I also agree that if you guys wanted to make this a major match, it could easily be one. Thanks to all of squad 2, I enjoyed shooting and resetting with you guys. Sheldon
  20. Great match as always. They have it down to a science...I'm sure its hard work to make it run so smooth so I applaud everyones efforts in making it the best 3-gun match. Squad 11 had a great time and I look foward to next year. Sheldon
  21. I'M GOING TO SECOND THAT FRED Q. IS THA MAN. HE IS A TARGET BUILDING MACHINE AS WELL AS A HECK-OV-A COACH, GUNSMITH AND FRIEND.
  22. SORRY it took so long, here is Tod's retical.(EDITED) I like this one very much. The 300 yard post is a good compramise to a hash. This thing could get the job done for a lot of different people with different skill sets and environments.
  23. I volunteer to be the retical drawer and poster if anyone wants to send me their ideas or tweek the ones that have been posted. I think after we've had a week of discusion then we can hold a POLL to get everyone to vote on how ever many we get and then that will give Erik and Bobby an idea of peoples preference. I like Eriks and several others so I will post some that I have and please pm or email me anything you want drawn. sheldon_blackwell@candfsteel.com
