  1. Bag is so old I don't even know brand, I got it from a friend, too small. Wanted to an idea of what styles are the most popular and go from there. Price is not a problem. Thanks
  2. I'm in the market for a new range bag, I don't want a back pack. Any help on the latest and greatest would help cutting to the chase. What are you suggesting? Thanks in advance
  3. A word of warning-- Make sure you keep any "in the ear" protection CLEAN. Put it on a checklist before you leave for a match or practice. Wash with soap and water or some cleansing wipe. Bad ear infections can be a issue if you don't keep them clean. Protect those ears. Have seen people put them in their mouth to moisten them == probably not a good idea.
  4. Laxman2809-- don't get too heavy with the grease. I use Mobil 1 sparingly. Powder gets in the threads and gums it up. General maintenance is the key. Great utube on tearing down. lubing and ass'y. Check it out. Have fun!
  5. Quiller The latest Gen. Oticom. These are without a doubt the best I've had so far. All the bluetooth etc., 3 years everything is free-- batteries, loss insurance, checkups, loaners all 100% at no charge. Great for me as I wear them all the time tennis, riding, etc. etc. whole new life for me.
  6. Try the new savage 6.5 creed more, couple different models to choose from. can't beat the adj. trigger.
  7. We spend Thosands on guns and equipment. Do not skimp on hearing protection------- You only get one set!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Of EARS. Coming from a guy who is wearing a pair of $6500.00 hearing aids.
  8. I'm in NE IL. also. Raise it up off the floor, a skid or 2/4's. golden rod, inside wall of garage if possible. should be good to go.
  9. Use a 14# Wolff variable, Also use a shock buffer. Experimenting is the way to go.
  10. IMO Pushing it to the limit is the way to go. Don't practice long --Do practice hard. You won't get smooth or fast unless you push your limits on the the practice range it WILL transfer to your matches.
  11. IMO porting isn't needed. It doesn't reduce recoil, it may reduce muzzle jump but not enough to notice. They are a PIA to clean. For some reason reale is harder for ported guns, especially after market porting. Same thing with ported choke tubes.
  12. Great guns, great warranty. Have more heft to them but the balance is great and they swing well. Look on line, places like Trapshooters.com for sale section. some really good deals.
  13. Agree with with all the rest, bring them out to 1.265 or so and go from there.
  14. Increase bell first, then to seat. One thing at a time
  15. IMO don't screw around get a new slide and move on. Don.t wait for something catastrophic to happen.
  16. I think the less a person does with the powder and measure the better off he is. Taking powder out of the hopper is not necessary. I really hate to admit this but I used to empty mine until I was having all kinds of problems. Found a 200 gr. bullet on the bottom of my powder measure. How the hell it got there is beyond me. Needless to say I keep it full and covered when I'm finished.
  17. Always randomly check, especially before a match. Good post ----- it will make me check alittle more--- .
  18. Sat down the other night and wrote out a complete check-list of everything i needed for a particular match. WHY? you ask? Because I cleaned my mags and I left them all a table. From now on-- no more thinking I have everything. I am physically touching everything on my check list to make sure its in my bag.
  19. Have been using 231 for years than switched to Clays. I like it just as much and seems a ;ittle cleaner. Using 200 grn.swc.
  20. Just thinking about it--I put a small piece of scotch tape over my left eye shooting glasses lens when I shot clay birds, it work for cross over, left eye dominance, squinting and you still kept your perifial vision. Might be worth a try.
  21. I am fortunate as I've tried alot of brands ( borrowed from friends) and they all work. If I had to pick one it would be Wilson, and that's what I now use, their fit, finish to me are the most consistent.
  22. I use them on all my 1911's, have tried most brands, never had an issue but I do change them out every few months. Just like the concept.
