Yea n105 and Aa7 may have similar burn rates but you are correct they don't act exactly the same.
-
Yea that sounds about right.. The steel grip adds a chunk of money for sure as do the price of lot of the modern optics (say a romeo max or xl or an SRO)
-
Then you have your answer grab that high milage Atlas . Not sure where you are on your current journey, but my experience is that when you are getting started in open any gun that runs reliably is accurate, and is built by a reasonable name builder will serve you well and will carry you as far as you have the dedication for.

In my experience your best bet is to find someone at your local club who's got a gun that works that's looking to upgrade. Shoot it for a while and figure out what you want before you have one built.

Yep enjoyable match at a nice location. But traveling there was indeed an expensive PITA
-
Anyone left in the club who can't stand to lose the matches. Thats who usually takes over.

Aa #7 is generally a bit slow to use for normal velocity 9mm. It's a better powder if you are trying to make 9mm Nato substitute or 9major ammo. It will work but you are going to use more powder than you need to and the unburnt powder is kinda going to be a fact of life. It's plenty safe just not the best choice.

Yep and that's a fair point. Competitor perception of advantage is probably more important than any actual advantage.

Agree. Allowing single action guns (which most striker fired guns with aftermarket triggers effectively are these days) and mag wells into CO would have been less trouble. I think actual limited optic (with major and minor) would have been more interesting (but then I liked the original CO so what do I know?)

Red dot glass shattered while shooting- need help figuring out why
caspian guy replied to CC3D's topic in Gear & Accessories
I had that happen with my first Romeo 3 Max (chip popped out at the top of the lens) I was using a converted rts2 mount on my open gun that had been relieved around the foot print of the sight body to allow it to fit (snug fit as the rts2 had been) also it had no recoil boss pins in the base. After Sig replaced the scope under warranty I switched to mount that didn't touch the body of the scope on the sides and had recoil boss pins in the base. Other than the buttons starting to go bad (which I'll have to send it back for soon) it's been good for a couple of years. -
I could never shoot my 9x25 that fast... For me it turns out I needed a little bit of dot movement to help me call the shots (maybe just me)
-
This has been my experience as well CO is a gateway drug for Open.
-
Given all of the changes they allowed in CO (and the fact that many striker fired guns are effectively non-hammer fired single action guns anyway) allowing Single Action hammer fired guns in CO would probably have been the easiest solution. However, it wouldn't have let the board see how many people chose that option from match result data, and wouldn't have let the board use that data to approach manufacturers looking for more sponsorship. So we are going to get LO minor. Based on the survey response that's what a small but meaningful part of the membership seems to want d(or at least the part that bothered to respond.) Thx for posting the pod cast I'll have to go listen to it.

2023 Holosun Competition Optic. (507 Comp)

Maybe if i can combine the 2moa dot and 8moa ring that's as good as an 8moa dot? -
My take was limited optic if they allow major/minor scoring, otherwise just put minor sao guns in carry optics and call it a day (if they insist let them have magwells) Given how CO has morphed and that many of the striker fired guns with aftermarket triggers are indistinguishable from sao guns anyway, allowing sao in CO feels life a realitively minor change. 15 rounds in prod? Sure... I don't think it will revive it but it's worth a shot.

Just took the survey. For once it looks they are actually asking the right questions. Maybe something will come of it.

DQ or Not? Pushing window open with gun.
caspian guy replied to bjcollado's topic in USPSA/IPSC Rules
You are right and that's why I made a point of saying no rule says you can't muzzle down a window. The point I was making with the second half of that comment (probably I didn't make it that well) is that if you chose to muzzle down a window be careful. For a lot of folks they are manipulating the gun in a way they may not be used to (striking or pushing something with the gun) and over the years I have seen more than one AD caused by people doing exactly that. The other thing I've seen is people push the gun slightly out of battery (maybe more of an issue with open guns with light recoil springs and cause a malfunction. -
DQ or Not? Pushing window open with gun.

I've done this at the nationals before.. No rule say you can't muzzle down a window/activator. But the note below about an discharge while doing it should be though about (were that to happen.) -
Right I suspect this isn't a case of Nils won because he shot minor, but more that Nils won despite shooting minor. However in doing so he proved it is possible, which is the interesting part.

Older Tripp Research non ramped frame build
caspian guy replied to Luckynumberslevin's topic in 1911-style Pistols
Mill it, don't even think twice about it. -
Yea I like the gun but parts availability for some parts is an issue.
-
I had that happen on one of my guns. The bottom of one of the little cylindrical tubes that the guide rods fits through cracked off and ended up down in the trigger group (where I later found it when the trigger stopped working. ) The gun was bought from another shooter who had put a large number of rounds on it. I ended up getting another couple of those from in lead we trust just to have a spare. If Sig won't send you another one check with In Lead We Trust as they sometimes have them in stock.
-
Yep the mags would be a solid value indeed at that price. Honestly if I wanted one of those that review wouldn't bother me as all the stuff he described I can fix myself (but that likely wouldn't be the case for most shooters.)
-
Hmmm I guess so long as you know how to keep your gun running that's all that matters.
