  1. If you mean the scope that's a STS 7 moa C-More sight. If you mean the serrations, that comes with the Glock 17 slide from "CCF" http://www.ccfraceframes.com/slides.html Everything else is from JagerProducts.com. The pistol was originally a Glock 34. If I want to change to limitted all I have to do is swap slides. If I want to shoot production, I swap the slides and remove the magwell. It is that easy. Hey Bob it was great seeing you at the match yesterday. Oh, and by the way that's one nice shooting Open Glock.
  2. You might also consider using Mach2 tactical mag pouches, I've been using them for a while and they are pretty well made. I also use Blackhawk CQC pouches and Safariland 773's and they all work well.
  3. I've had the pleasure of shooting along side of Bob Torre aka "El Guapo" and can attest to his skills and more importantly his sense of humor which he brings to the match. Welcome aboard my friend, you will certainly hone your skills here with all the insight and knowledge of the members.
  4. + 1 on the S&A magwell, have one on a Colt 1991 and it works perfectly. I use both Wilson mags as well as Shooting Star mags with the basepads and they all work flawlessly.
  5. Being a left handed shooter it's definitely a must for me. Only brand I've ever used is the Ed Brown type and they have worked out well for me. I have them installed on my Colt as well as my Para.
  6. I've been using a Safariland model 010 for both Limited & L-10, however after shooting my Glock 34 out of a 5188 earlier this month I decided to order one for a 1911. Shot my glock out of the 5188 earlier this month in production and did pretty well with it. Shot a classifier stage with it and came in 10th out of 43 with it. Pretty smooth draw in my opinion.

    Para Custom Shop

I own a Para Ordnance P-16 (.40 cal) which I purchased some years ago at a great price. The dealer was relocating to another part of town and was clearing out his inventory. I proceeded to strip out most of the factory parts including hammer, trigger, beavertail and main spring housing. Replacing with mostly Ed Brown parts I sent to Brazos for fitting and trigger job. What I got back was nothing short of great, I did however ship it back to Para for refinishing. They applied their Para Kote finish and had back to me in a few days. Surprisingly the finish has held up very well, it now has a smooth 3lb trigger along with Novak sights which are great. If I hadn't made those changes I'm sure I would have gotten rid of it sooner.
  8. Don't know how many of you are familiar with the Mach2 tactical line of products but they have some pretty decent mag pouches. They feature an open edge design similar to many of the Safariland pouches. Better yet, they are reasonably priced and come in both belt slide and clip on versions. My son has several pouches for the glock model and I am amazed how smooth they come out. Considering purchasing a few myself, otherwise I may try out the Ready Tactical and see how they work. While the Bladtech CQC pouches work well for me, they tend to be a little on the long side which takes a little longer to pull out.
  9. I got the Ghost at Midway. If you are new at action shooting- I'd recommend using something from Comp-Tac first. I used the Dawson's but lots like the Arredondos. Main diff is the Dawson's are alum the Arredondos are plastic. Depending on what division you plan to shoot in, Mach2 tactical makes a good holster as does Ready Tactical. If you decide on Ready Tactical, Chris Patty sells them. He's a vendor on this forum. I run a glock 34 in Production and he installed my Sevigny sights and had on the way back to me same day he got my slide.
  10. I would go with a Brazos Custom Limited, he did a trigger job on my Para P-16 and boy is it smooth. You'll find some great deals here from fellow members. I often find myself drooling at some of the stuff that ends up here on the classifieds.
  11. + Maxpedition makes some nice backpacks including the gearslinger model which seems like a good size. I have some of there products and they are well made. I have one of their versapacks and it's awesome. You might want to check out their website. Good luck!
  12. Bladetech DOH and Comp-Tac are very popular choices and can be used in several divisions. I just purchased a Safariland 5188 paddle style holster which I used a few weeks ago in Production and I can say it worked great. Since I shoot a Glock 34 it will also work with almost any small frame glock such as a 17, 22, 35. Since it's a paddle type it's also easier to put on and take off.
  13. I'm a little skeptical about using those multi-mag pouches. I've been using Blackhawk CQC type and while they function well I would'nt buy them again. My son has the Mach2 tactical pouches and they are pretty smooth on the draw. I also hear that Ready Tactical makes a great pouch, I'll pick up a few and try them out.
  14. I have been running a Glock 34 in both Limited/L-10/Production for the past year. I've decided to pull out my Para P-16 this year and see where I can go with it as far as Limited goes. If all goes well, I'll just leave my Glock for L-10.
  15. Thanks for the great tips! While I've been using blackhawk cqc mag pouches for some time now there are a number of good pouches out there. Mach2 tactical makes a great mag pouch, my son has several and I'm thinking of picking up a few myself.

    Glock 19 set-up

Other than a pair of sights I would just shoot as is. You might want to try Sevigny competition sights which have a FO front. If you ever decide to shoot in competition a glock 34 might be the way to go. I shipped my slide to Chris Patty of CPWSA and he installed and sent back to me same day he received them. Great guy by the way.
  17. I have a Safariland 010 which I use with both a Colt Single Stack as well a Para P16 and have never had a problem with it. I also use a 007 model with my glock 34 and it doesn't feel as secure. I tend to check after each stage, maybe it just needs a little more tension adjustment, anyway I've switched to a paddle type for the glock.
  18. Almost any holster made for a 1911 type pistol will fit a Para Ordnance. Some might fit tighter than others but they generally fit since the slide is about the same thickness as a regular Gov't model. I have a Safariland 010 Final Option which I use with both a Colt 1991 and Para P16. I also use a Safariland 5188 paddle style in Production and it fits good.
  19. It happened to me this past Sunday while shooting at a local match. I started off fine but as the day progressed it sort of went downhill. While I didn't come in last on any of the stages, I did manage to miss several targets on the last stage. That just happened to be the classifier. I'll just have to focus more at the next match, had fun anyway.
  20. SVI Infinity, .45acp, 5" Schuemann Ultimatch, Polymer & steel, 15 rds Concealed, very comfortable, no problems New Mexico, 7000 ft., 95°F ambient ;-) While I don't carry, I do have a Para P16 (.40 cal) which I shoot in Ltd. division. If I were to carry it I would probably use a IWB style holster which would make it more concealable. A single stack is lighter and more concealable for all day carry.
  21. Does my Kershaw/Ken Onion "Leek" count? I was shooting a local match yesterday, and I commented to several guys on our squad about the fact that more than half the shooters had knives sticking out of their pockets. One of them said he got use to carrying one while on the job, well not to be outdone I slowly pulled out mine and placed in a pocket on my cargo shorts. I guess it's more of a cool factor than anything else. Not to mention the fact it matched my Techwear shirt as well as my cleats. The things we do for this sport.
  22. Does my Kershaw/Ken Onion "Leek" count?
  23. I had some work done on my Para P-16 by Brazos Custom and I can tell you it runs flawlessly. Turn around time was fairly quick as well. I'm sure a number of members can step right on in with other recommendations.
  24. +1 I'm the same way-- I have a G17 that's about as good as a Glock can get without being a G35 with the same mods. I prefer my 1911 as well, and if I were in your shoes I'd sell the cert and put the money towards a 2011. +1 for one platform if you really prefer it over another A glock 17 would allow you to shoot in several divisions as well as IDPA. On the other hand, if your leaning towards conceal carry a glock 19 would be hard to beat. I shot one yesterday and wouldn't mind adding one to my collection.
  25. First match in 1998, at age 36. Stopped shooting for a few years, came back in 2008.
