Buying A Laptop
Ironman replied to Rufus The Bum's topic in Miscellaneous Topics That Do Not Fit in Any Other Forum
RTB HP bought Compaq so now they are one in the same. If the graphical interface (monitor) is important to you go Sony if weight and power is what you are looking for I would go Panasonic. I had a Panasonic Tecra (Sp?) at the last place that I worked and it rocked! Jim -
Hunting Forums
Ironman replied to j1b's topic in Miscellaneous Topics That Do Not Fit in Any Other Forum
Jack, Forthehunt.com has a forum but it is nothing like this one. They tend to go to the dark side from time to time but there are some good guy and gals there that like to share what they have learned. Jim -
J, I am having an SV built in 45 without the barrel bushing. The SV parts that Jon described are around $450 plus fitting (if necessary). That is the price that SV gave me about a week ago. I was thinking the same thing as you are. Your only problem is with the Wilson slide. You would have to buy the SV slide with interchangeable breach face or another slide with a 40 cal breach face. If you are planning on ever adding another caliber to your SV their slide might be worth the investment. I really don't like changing slides on my semi autos do to slight differences which may create uneven wear on a tight frame to slide fit. Maybe I'm just paranoid. I should say that I would not hesitate doing it to a Glock. But with a Glock, for the money, you might just as well buy the entire gun. JMTCW Jim

TBF, I go to Wal-Mart for 9 mm and 12-gauge ammunition. I have heard that they will make special purchases that may not use the same kind of wood for the stocks as sold at other suppliers. I have also heard the "seconds" rumor is not true. Jim

Dave, I am very interested in how you gun runs. At the suggestion of a good friend that use to shoot a lot at Norco I met his gunsmith a few weeks ago in Corona and was thinking about having him build me an open gun next year. He seems very knowledgeable and just an all around nice guy. Best of luck with your new race gun. Jim

Happy Birthday Jack

Happy B-day! Oh to be 30 again... Jim -
Who is building your gun for you? Is he a local gunsmith? Jim

I hated driving 120 miles a day to get to work. I hated the unhealthy air quality in the big city. I hated the big corporation attitude. I hated it enough that last week I quit my new job (4 months) and got a job that is 20 miles from home and for a family owned business. I hate that after a week off I have to go back to work on Tuesday. Jim

I am still very new to this sport and would go to any compitition just for the fun and experiance. But if I were on the top I think it is only right to go from the top down. Jim

New Style Of 3gun Match
Ironman replied to MattBurkett's topic in Multi-Gun, Rifle & Shotgun Match Announcements
Hi Matt, It sounds like fun. I am a little paranoid using my EO tech or iron sites at that kind of yardage but no guts no glory. Besides it will give me something new to work on. Are you planning on doing limited, open and he-man divisions? Please keep us filled in on the details. Jim -
Congradulations Grandpa! I am still waiting... my oldest son is going to be married next summer so maybe then I will get to join the "Grandpa" group. It sure sounds like fun. Jim

"I just stuck the small end of the .223 case up into the hole where spent primers come out, sawed off the case and slipped a piece of clear tubing over it that runs down to a beer bottle on the floor" This is from shreds post. It sounded so good I had to look it up so I figured I would save you the time. Good one Shred! I will be making that modification today. Jim

Thanks Nik! Jim

DR, I use a CED 6000. Thank you very much for all the input on this post. I have met some new Airsoft buddies here in Kalif. It sounds like they are having a lot of fun. As far as our sport goes I went to the range yesterday and had not shot a real gun for a month and was pleasantly surprised. I was concerned about the change of power factor but it all fell into place. I really like to be able to go outside at night and turn on the lights and have some fun. Jim

Patrick, If I hold the timer right next to my Glock airsoft it will trip the timer which is still set at it's stock settings. My friend got the SV and it has a bigger pop. I am sure if you did not mind a minor adjustment it would work great. Jim

Hi Brian, It is a shame that we can't put the ego's aside and just "take it all in". Opinions are a important part of your forum I don't always like what is said but what I like I put in the tool box and what I don't goes on the back shelf for consideration latter. I thanked you a couple of weeks ago for having such a great site. I'm sorry the butt heads got to you. I am glad to say that I missed the post. Take care and hang in there bro! Oh yeah, someone, I don't know whooo, told Taran you thought he was a dork. I think he wants to have a little talk with you. Just when you think things can't get any worse they usually get better. Jim

I with Dale on the astygmatism and the rest of you regarding the frustration factor of not being able to see as well as I use to. At 48 years old I am now using trifocals. I close my weak eye shooting small targets but use both eyes open for the close up stuff. With all this talk about new divisions within our sport maybe we need a half blind division. Jim

Does your SV have a removable breach face? Jim

Who's Going To Harvard Ma???
Ironman replied to PistolPete's topic in Match Announcements - Pistol Only - USPSA, IPSC & Misc.
Flexmoney, It could have been, Taran has told me stories of how a lot of the shooters have fun with each other during the competition. More often than not it is the other way around and they want him to hose trying to put the pressure on him. I was at a shoot in Palm Springs with Taran and one of the shooters told Taran just before he shot that each stage was a mandatory clip change so Taran dropped his clip each stage. The guy was just kidding around. Taran still won the stage. We were all rolling on the ground laughing. It just goes to show that even a grand master can get tricked every now and then. Pete, I wish I could be there it sounds like a lot of fun. If you shoot a video I would pay for a copy and shipping. Jim {Sorry for the drift} -
Who's Going To Harvard Ma???
Ironman replied to PistolPete's topic in Match Announcements - Pistol Only - USPSA, IPSC & Misc.
Ahh so it is Area 7. Pete you may want to look for a guy with a Team SVI shirt on. He is a GM by the name of Taran Butler. He is a very nice guy but if you haven't met him before tell him you know Flexmoney and I am sure he will be nice to you. Jim -

THANK YOU DILLON! Whew, I guess I have nothing to worry about. You gotta like that response. Now to some serious reloading. 3 million rounds... and counting.
