  1. For sure, thumb on the safety, I can grip the DWX high enough where the large knuckle contacts the bottom of the slide as it cycles. I'll snap a photo when I get home from work on Thursday if I can remember. It's 100% my fault, it only happens when drawing but it's where my hand naturally wants to settle. here’s a crappy image that shows my grip on a stage last week.
  2. Definitely comes into play I think, I was always a plastic gun guy before moving to the shadow 2 and then DWX. Part of the allure of the DWX is I assumed the transition would be easy considering I was already very comfortable with the shadow.
  3. The only thing I can say is it I do grip my shadow very high and that's where my muscle memory has me. With the DWX the slide will ride across the top of my strong hand thumb (it doesn't bite me, I've never bled), but there's enough friction that I'll slow the slide enough to cause a malfunction. I'd like to think I'm not a complete idiot, I'd say before I switched to LO I was a mid pack A shooter in CO with some decent competition...
  4. I’m most comfortable with the shadow 2 platform with large safeties. No issues there at all and I subconsciously ride the safety. I think the safety is forward more than on the 1911/2011 design that it feels more natural. What’s really weird is how my strong hand thumb (too high of a grip) slows the slide enough to not chamber a new round/cause a malfunction. This has happened a half a dozen times in matches, and not once with the shadow 2.
  5. 0.87 from surrender is flying! I need to spend some more time on that for sure. I recently spent a lot of time working on scoop draws. I’m comfortable enough to use it in a match setting but can’t run full blast “cold” yet. I hit a solid grip about 8/10 times and I’ve consistently hit .74-.76’s. I recently shot 22-06 and pulled a 1.0. That’s the fastest draw I’ve done in a match setting.
  6. No dice on the safety from both of them. Maybe I'll come back to it over the winter.
  7. @Boomstick303 sounds like a good deal to me what do you think?!
  8. im hanging onto it for now until something catches my eye…
  9. Anyone else that’s competing with this gun having issues with your grip? I’ve shot a half a dozen matches with it now and I don’t think I’ve finished one without either inadvertently flipping on the safety with my support hand or the slide riding my strong hand thumb hard enough to induce a malfunction. I’m going to go back to competing with my Shadow 2 with a magwell in LO. It’s 100% my grip on the draw, it’s hard to reproduce in dry fire as well. I’ve messed with holster angles, etc. a ton. Super irritating!
  10. Ive had a weak trigger return spring (brand new) from a very popular brand that would cause reset issues. I replaced it with a Eric Grauffel TRS and it works fine
  11. Floyds Custom TS2 fits seemlessly
  12. A hornady lnl with a mini mr bullet feeder. I may pull that and go back to a powder cop for a bit. I feel like im good (lots of lights) at visually confirming but maybe I let a few slip. Seems highly unlikely though! Thanks
  13. So out of about 10k loaded I've had one previous squib and I kinda new it happened just not which round so it all became range ammo. Yesterday I had 3 Squibs in a row. Bullet just past the chamber, case did not eject. That led me to believe they were primer only charges and for some reason my powder drop wasn't working. I went home and pulled the next bullet and it had a full powder charge. That seems like an extremely rare coincidence? What else could cause a squib? I use One shot case lube, would this effect the powder? CCI 500 primers.
  14. Has anyone here put more than 25k through a prodigy yet?
  15. You sound butthurt… im in the same boat as boomstick. I shoot my shadow 2 very well compared to my dwx. There’s something about the platform that interests me though. I have about 1200 rounds through it now vs about 15k through the shadow 2 platform. Both are fun. Right now I’m enjoying LO.
  16. Its not even the weight, its the straight pull for me. Makes it a lot easier to shoot accurately, even compared to my S2 with full cajun work
  17. 100%, mostly the trigger though I think.
  18. Size-wise the Athena felt like a better balanced version of my shadow 2 as well. The shadow 2 feels muzzle heavy to me. Both the Titan and Athena shot stupid flat, but the Titan feels a lot bigger.
  19. Uhhh…. It’s very clearly legal in the rule book, and part of the reason I made this post to begin with? I was reporting back it functioned appropriately in a match environment. You understand this is a forum to share ideas and you are not required to participate right? No one here was waiting for your input. You didn’t have to even read it. I hope your day gets better
  20. Read 5.2.3 I shot a match with the shortened inner belt and it functioned perfectly.
  21. I figured it out, safety invetween on/off and pry it out. Mine was TIGHT. I do have a question for dwx owners- does your stock trigger bow have tabs to adjust pre-travel? Mine did not…. The replacement I ordered from Dan Wesson DOES and it allowed me to take the trigger from good to amazing. Zero pre-travel now, zero dot movement with trigger manipulation.
  22. I just swapped my SRO for a green 507 comp. I fired about 300 rounds through it doing a little testing for competition use. For targets 15 yards and in I preferred the 20moa ring only. Past 15 yards I liked the 2/8 combo. This is what I assume I will use majority of the time. What was interesting was putting a clean target behind a shot up one and doing some shot calling drills firing doubles at match speed i called 100% of my shots correctly between 7 and 20 yards. I’m shooting a match with it tomorrow and will post again. So far I like it, i would be just as happy with a solid 8 moa green dot as well though. The window size is cool but I don’t see how it will be an advantage over the already big SRO
