Good info. Thanks for sharing

If I understand right, if you send your gun to CGW and have them install the pro package, don't they do polishing and fitting themselves? Just curious other than the labor of having them install it if there are any perks to having them do it versus yourself.

So I have 2 OR S2's. One is setup for SAO and I'm using for multigun. Being that the current OR S2's ship with flat safeties, I'm just looking for something easier to manipulate when drawing in SAO. For my DA/SA CO rig, the flat safety is fine since it doesn't need to be flipped on/off when drawing. Maybe I can find someone that has the factory extended that went for a super extended version and will let it go. Hard to believe CGW, CZC and others don't have any options in stock.

Is there a reason you'd not run a 70 for sub minor loads other than reliability?
-
Sorry I meant I used quarters then once I knew how many was just right I made my own delrin spacer with the measurement.
-
Can vouch for this setup. Except I used quarters for spacers to tune ha.

This is the way. MBX for the win!!

I've ran ETS, Magpul, OEM and MBX. They all have ran great through my JP GMR15 and now JP5. I've settled with the MBX 170s some 170s with extensions for USPSA and OEM 17 rounders for Steel Challenge. The MBX feel great to reload with and just feel great overall. But they aren't cheap unfortunately. I have had many issues with OEM 33 rounders with aftermarket extensions though.

CGW guys told me they get their stuff from McMaster. So just have to see what the replace is from CGW vs buying a minimum 50-100 count from McMaster plus shipping.

Looking to upgrade from a flat to extended safety. One issue is nowhere has any in stock. Also didn't know if there was a preference?
-
I'll try to post one in a couple weeks when back home with it.

agree the current brass + g10 are great but idk why they haven't made a palmswell version yet. Would be a hit IMO

Came in today and heading to CGW tomorrow!!

What he said. Even if you are a smaller person your run out of real estate quickly if you mount anything on the handguard.
-
I didn't have any issues dropping mine in. But it was tight.

CK have you tried using a 70 degree piece yet with your minor loads? I have found better feel with the 70 degree piece with loads down near 115PF for SC and up to around 135PF for USPSA over the 80 degree.
-
Best setup I've used yet is a JP5 with a 70 degree lock piece (80 degree comes stock) and then swap the handguard to a 12" Smoke Composite. Factory JP trigger is great but personal preference. Same with grip and stock. This got my JP5 with 2 Vortex Razors to 5lb 10oz.

I shot the stock JP5 until the lock pieces became avaliable. I have a 70, 80 and 90 lock piece. I have shot subminor loads around 115PF for Steel Challenge and 131PF for USPSA with all 3 locking pieces and they ran reliably. The 70 lock piece felt the best in all cases. The way I've understood it best is that the lower the number the longer the "delay". If your ammo was lower PF you might need a higher number lock piece to run reliably. If you were running +P ammo you would want a lower number piece so the gun doesn't beat itself to death.

Not sure if anyone ever answered you and you probably figured it out by now. I have a JP5 and changed out all of those items you mentioned including the trigger to a hiperfire eclipse. The smoke composite 12" handguard dropped almost 5 oz off of the ULW JP handguard that was on it.
-
I changed my stock handguard on my JP5 over to a Smoke Composite. Barrel didn't came loose but looked at it just incase I ever felt like I needed to pull the barrel. Reached out to JP and they said if I ever need to remove it that they recommend the factory do it. Eventually I'm sure someone will be brave enough to do something and if it works post it on YouTube.

I have about 8000 rounds through my JP5 now after owning a GMR15 for 3 years. Even the stock JP5 with the 80 degree lock piece with factory ammo shoots softer than my GMR15 with tuned recoil and custom loads. I have found the best combination for ammo close to minor PFF (125PF to 135PF) the 70 degree lock piece runs best. Doesn't seem to matter what grain bullet either. Most of the top JP shooters I have talked to seem to just settle on somewhere between a 125-135 grain bullet. Objectively, yes its worth the upgrade from the GMR15. But the cost difference means something different to everyone.
