Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I've heard nothing regarding this. FWIW, if you let someone shoot a rifle at a pistol match, why would conceal spare magazines be an issue?
  2. No penalty in either case. There used to be rules against "shooting while holding a loading device" and "staging a loading device." Both rules were deleted. Let's move on. If you can't specify a rule number to justify a penalty, then there is no penalty.
  3. "8.6.2.4 The same exact location for magazines, magazine pouches, and/or ammunition feeding devices in pockets must be used for every stage in a single match, unless otherwise specified in a stage description."
  4. 3.4.9 was deleted. "Staging" is no longer a penalty. It appears that people are using the "discharge while reloading" rule to try to enforce the old rule against staging. This is a non starter. Clearly, the "discharge while reloading" is meant for accidental/negligent discharges.
  5. After the start signal, the only rule that requires a loading device to be properly "stowed" is if the shooter dropped it.
  6. If mags are staged, you don't have to take them with you if you have not interacted with them after the start signal.
  7. I agree. 2.2.4.5 is clearly for a negligent/accidental discharge. Awarding a penalty or DQ for shooting with a mag in the hand is just being vindictive, IMO. The rule against staging mags was deleted. Get over it and move on.
  8. 8.6.2.4 applies at the start signal. If the shooter usually loads from the pocket, and has two mags on the belt at the start signal, but accidentally loads from the belt, so there is one mag on the belt and one in the pocket at the start signal, then the shooter has violated 8.6.2.4.
  9. Spare loading devices need to be staged in the same place on body for every stage unless the stage procedure states otherwise. Whether you used the mag or not, starting with the mag in your pocket instead of the belt as usual deserves a penalty. However, the SO probably wouldn't notice unless you actually loaded from your pocket, and probably not even then. That said, it's better to earn a penalty than to not engage the remaining targets.
  10. A.4 Compact Carry Pistol Division (CCP) A.4.1 Handguns permitted for use in CCP must A.4.1.1 Be semi-automatic. A.4.1.2 Use 9 mm (9x19) or larger cartridges. A.4.1.3 Barrel length 4 3⁄8” or less. A.4.1.4 The unloaded firearm with the heaviest magazine must weigh 38.00 oz. or less. A.4.1.5 The firearm with the largest magazine inserted must fit in the IDPA gun test box measuring 7 3⁄4” x 5 3⁄8” x 1 3⁄8”.

  12. NFC is not a division anymore. The match director may include a specialty division (SPD) and may call it NFC, but that's up to the MD and is not required. I doubt the tier 3 match will have any SPD divisions, since they're not official. Ask the MD if he, or another club contact, will classify you before the tier 3 match. If not, complain to the Area Coordinator.
  13. In Tactical Journal/Vol 26/Issue 3/Q3 2022, there is a match review of the 2022 Swiss International IDPA Championship. On page 43, they mention seeing unusual modifications such as "thumb rests."
