I had an open shipped in to the local gun shop... I open the case to have a look, and this oleboy says, "Whatcha got there boy... some Buck Rogers star blaster boy...?" To which I say, "Keep your cotton pick'n snaughz off me boy." An obscure Bond reference, to which I got the huh, look and crooked smile with a couple teeth missing. Yup, "here's your sign."

Standing at the gun counter of a large sporting goods retailer. (now closed)

Me: "Do you have any Kahr magazines in the back? I don't see any on the shelf."

Clerk: "Sir, this is the gun department. We don't have any car magazines."

Me: ?

Clerk: "You can check in the magazine rack up front but I don't know if we sell any car magazines."

Me: "No. I mean magazines for a Kahr 9mm pistol"

Clerk: ?

Me: You know? The detachable part of the gun where the ammunition is usually held?"

Clerk: "Oh! You mean clips."

Me: "Never mind. I'll go home and order online."

While racking a Winchester 870. "The most terrifying sound known to man."

Jim

Remington makes a terrifying 870 too. :P

But the Winchesters are the best Remingtons! That's what I heard at the gun shop!

Clerk who was carrying a compensated glock with JP site on rear site.

I saw the gun on his belt and asked where he shot IPSC or USPSA.

Clerk: I don't shoot that stuff.

Me: Oh OK well I was just wondering got a pretty good looking open gun.

Clerk: This here is a race gun.

Me: I know that is why I thought you shot IPSC or USPSA.

Clerk: I don't know even what you are talking about.

Me: Oh well we run around a scenario and shoot paper, reactive and steel targets.

Clerk: Man you can get killed running with a gun...

Me: yeah well just the same as you putting that gun hot into a holster you just never know what could happen.

Clerk: It ain't hot see just touch it...

Me:

Clerk: So is there anything I can show you.

Me: Nah I am good do you have any one here that knows about guns?

Had a local shooter ask me at our match this past Sunday what scope I would recommend for long range shooting. I told him which one I used and what power. He replayed with "Matt at the sharpshooter(the local indoor range and gun shop) said not to use that scope or anything more then 14 X power". I informed him that I guess Matt knows more than I do when comes to scopes and what power to get.

A guy is at big box sporting goods store counter next to me buying a shotgun for home defense.

Clerk: "Just make sure to keep your eyes shut when you pull the trigger indoors or you'll go blind."

Guy at the shop bought an AK, several magazines, and a case of 7.62x39.

The gunshop clerk was attempting to be a smart asshat, and while he was bagging up the ammo and magazines said, "now here is the map to the mall."

I let the owner know about that one.

Maybe he was making a Mall Ninja reference.

Gun shop owner who used to have a Desert Eagle .44 Magnum in his rental case, and does no longer, describing his "rental case gun" experience with the Desert Eagle:

"You fire it for about 200 rounds and it stops working. So you clean it. Then you fire it for another 200 rounds and it stops working. So you clean it. You just go along like that for awhile. Then it breaks."

(Okay, not idiotic. Sometimes the funny stuff is funny because it's true.)

Clerk: nope, but I have a 17

Me: That's 9mm right?

Clerk: Yup, shoots real nice

Me: What's the difference between the 17 and the 34?

Clerk: The 34 is compensated

Me: Ok thanks, see ya later.

I was told that Benelli DOES NOT make a shotgun with a pistol grip. Period. End of discussion. So I left and came back with my M1S90 with a pistol grip, laid it on the counter and asked the guy if that funny looking thing sticking off the bottom of the stock was a steering wheel. A$$hat.

"Glock is the standard from which all other pistols are made" - local store clerk quote. I asked if they would receive an STI for me. After several minutes of convincing him it was not a "Styre" he asked if it was foreign?

I gave up!

A customer came into a shop and asked the twit behind the counter about a 280 Rem. for deer hunting. The clerk said it was OK but suggested he go with a larger caliber rifle like a 7mm Rem. Nice!

customer: I would like to to buy niyte sights for my glock. I have heard they help for home defense.

clerk: the best about them is to find your gun on your nightstand. thats why they were designed...so you can see your gun at night.

customer: well i have kids in the home and i wont leave my gun on the night stand.

clerk: turn the gun around - they wont see it......
