kneelingatlas
All the cuts up front look cool, but I prefer to balance weight reduction front and rear.

kneelingatlas
Atlas gunworks (no affiliation) cuts a big hunk of steel out in front of the rear sight which I think looks terrible, but gets the balance right: Although I saw this one they did on FB which I like much better:
chowellacsbd
Any thoughts on cycling without lightening cuts? I assume fine, since the EDGE comes from the factory without any cuts or flat-topping.
SCinTX
It is all about achieving the right balance, IMO.
jimbullet
What is the right balance - I am assuming you dont want it to be front heavy but yet have enough weight for when the slide returns to battery, would result in a flat shooting gun which does not dip? troupe
If you want light , years ago, EGW made cuts at the rear of the slide running all the way through the gun from top to bottom, as well as from right side to left side. Ejec, extrac, firing pin was all exposed. The pistol was a steel challenge gun. A lot of weight was removed and the slide held up just fine. It was Caspian slide's that George used. Jim at Innovation Customs could tell you more about it, Jim was working with George back then. Tell Jim, Tommy Roupe told you to call if you contact him. Those cuts really cut down on the moving mass.
kneelingatlas
With 9 minor you could go pretty light without hurting anything or making the recoil impulse too nasty. You say "fun gun" but what are you aiming for? flat shooting, cool looking, lightest weight overall?

troupe
Matt remembers, he worked with George and Behlert. Take that same cut and come in from the sides also. A lot of weight removed from the proper place. Looks great.

I'm also a gas of stroking, but I'm an Open shooter, I imagine it might be a touch much with 9 minor.
