jcc7x7
My 929 Crane has worn a grove in it where the detent screw contacts it when it's open. Probably from dry fire practice loading. When I drop/push the moon clip in some times it pushes the cyl. out where it can't be closed. Then I have to loosen the screw and push it back in etc etc So can I buy a new crane and put it in or is that a "fitted " part also get a new screw etc? alecmc
Smith wont sell you a crane. Is the yoke screw in good functional shape? Might try replacing that first.
jcc7x7
I swapped one out of another gun and it seems better so I'll order a couple (figure brownell's ) unless there is an easier place. Thanks Alec Neil

PatJones
How hard are you pushing on the open cylinder? Moon clips drop in under their own weight.

Only happens when alignment isn't correct. Bought gun used from a novice shooter. Took apart to clean and inpect surface smoothness the day I got it. Noticed the notch in the yoke. It's gotten more pronounced since.
