2 guns at steel ?

Judgement call, not sure it was correct.

Acted as the CRO/Safety Officer at last weekend’s club Level  1 Steel Challenge.

We are now seeing a lot of shooters using holstered pistols and then a 2nd gun:  rimfire pistol or rimfire rifle or PCC.

USPSA rules are very clear about not having 2 guns out or on.

So, I asked anyone shooting a holstered gun to bag it before taking out their rimfire or rifle.

It took extra time, was an extra step.

Correct call or pettiness?

I skimmed through the steel challenge rule book and it doesn't list anything against having 2 guns. I know the uspsa rule book is pretty clear as you mentioned, but if its not in the rule book for the game your playing its fine.

This would probably get more attention in the steel challenge sub forum.

SC rules, unlike USPSA rules, don't prohibit it.

Unnecessary to make them put it away.  They just need to know that while they are shooting their rimfire or whatever,  if for some reason (like during the movement on Outer Limits) their centerfire comes out of the holster and falls, it'll be a DQ.

What Thomas said... in fact - I never thought about the dropped gun argument, but he's right. The rule states dropping of a firearm- not necessarily THE firearm, during the COF.

This is a normal practice, however, multiguns with centerfires...
