nunamaker_ryan0423
I'm fairly new to reloading and am looking to reload my 40 s&w with the 180gr blue bullets and am just looking for a good recipe using hodgdon cfe pistol powder. Any help would be awesome
Jmoreno88
Their website will give you the min and max charges if you look it up. A good load is dependent on the pistol shooting it. I'd recommend starting on the low end and work up in .3 gr increments until you find something you and the pistol like and then you can dial it in even closer if you'd like. What I can say is when I asked people for their recipes, they were never as good as me working up a load myself and tuning it to my specific rifle or pistol. Good luck! Hi-Power Jack
If you're loading .40 to Major (PF165+), make sure you have enough neck tension to eliminate bullet set back - heavy bullet and fast powder, PLUS bullet set back = a bad day at the range. usmc90
The search function at the top will usually yield some good results as well.
ckfarris
I would spend a good deal of time reading the 40 reloading section. Tons of good info there. Once you have decided on a powder or two to try, start .2-.3 grains lower that somebody else's recipe. Also, make sure you have a good chrono if you are trying to make major power factor.
