SGC
I'm seeing quite a bit of variability in my primer seating depth and wanted to know what you normally see? I'm getting anywhere from barely below flush to .006 deep with most around .003. I'm loading CCI spp in mixed range brass on a Dillon 650 with the bracket under the primer punch shimmed. At first I thought it was me putting inconsistent pressure during the upstroke but I just loaded 100 rounds paying extra attention to seating consistently and got the same variability. The seating depths seem to correlate to headstamp which indicates it's probably just due to variance in the primer pockets but wanted to check and make sure what I'm seeing is normal. TDA
Sounds normal for mixed brass. The important thing is that they are fully seated, not the specific depth.
lefty o
perfectly normal, you can even have variation from lot to lot of the same make brass. just seat them to the bottom of the pocket and all is well.
MemphisMechanic
Same thing happened to me. Needed to run more hammer spring in my Tanfo than guys who load CCI with a 1050 usually do, so that the higher ones still went bang.
SGC
Thanks guys I figured it was normal but it's good to confirm it.I haven't had any issues with light strikes, but I only have striker guns. Looking at maybe switching to a tanfo so I want to nail down my reloading process before attempting a trigger job with lighter springs.Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
