kmaultsby
I am setting up my Springfield XDM for limited. I am using Xtreme 180gr bullet using WST powder 172 power factor. Any suggestions on recoil spring weight?
RIIID
16# or heavier, don't go lighter because you will run the risk of the slide not going fully forward. The recoil spring keeps the slide fully forward and the firing pin spring will pull the slide back if the recoil spring is too light/wearing out. I tried a 14# spring, and even with a lighter striker spring, was running into slide/out of battery issues. Put the factory spring back in (18#) and everything is good. blaze190
Been running a 14# in mine now for 20000 plus rounds and no problems at all. I would like to actually go down to a 12# now that I'm shooting minor in carry optics
N3WWN
14# minor (133 PF)16# major (171 PF)I don't run the 16# spring with minor loads or I risk the slide not cycling reliably, resulting in cases not clearing the ejection port.Zero issues with the right spring for the PF.Anything heavier and I was seeing some muzzle dip from being oversprung, but that was determined a few years ago and my grip has improved since that time.
