Chacam
I am getting a lot of smoke when I fire. I am using 9mm 145gr LRN with 3gr of Titegroup. Is it the powder, the lead or a combination the makes it smoke? Is there maybe a different combination that wouldn't smoke as much? Never noticed smoke like that with factory loads. I am just shooting target and getting about 900fps. Thanks

oteroman
First Titegroup is a know “Smokey” prone powder. There are many other less smoke prone powders. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
mlmiller1
Lead bullets tend to smoke more than any others especially if they arent mated well to your gun or barrel. Also titegroup burns hotter than many powders which makes it worse.
CamboSoup22
Are you using uncoated lead? All the smoke could be from the burning of the lube that was used. I had lots of smoking using uncoated lead. It’s a lot less with coated rounds. I normally use the blue bullets. That stuff gets all over your fingers though. Any of the hi-tek coated stuff is good as well like bayou. Not a fan of the moly coated bullets. Got some to try and it take a little more to clean the barrel. 9x45
even Moly coated lead with TG smokes horribly. Any HiTek coated bullet has minimal smoke with TG. I run 124s over 3.4 grains of TG at 1.100" to make Minor, hardly any residue.
Chacam
Yes, i am using uncoated lead from Summers Enterprises. They also make bullets with Hi-tek coating. Ill try them next.
