Limited Holster "Placement on belt"?

So I am new on here but I have been shooting USPSA for 5 years. I shoot SS . I recently just stepped in to a STI Edge. Bye far Limited is my favorite division. Just for the fact that equipment placement makes things easier . So the fun of buying new gear like belt ,mag pouches ,and holster took some thought but i got it done. Now over the years of shooting I have noticed that some guys were there holster at there side and some were there holster almost on the front of there leg. I am looking for options on, pros and cons on both holster positions for limited division.

I'm with Rowdy...I make it so that the grip is right there as I slide my hand up from my side.  My hand would go right over my grip and pull the handgun out of the holster.  One easy, natural, fluid motion for me.  It's different for everyone, actually, but this makes the most sense to me and works the best for me rather than having it too far forward or too far rearward.

That's why I sometimes shoot my carry gun from an IWB appendix holster in Limited Division (same for Open and L10). Also from concealment because there is no rule against it. Unless you want to be TactiCool, run a thigh rig....

Rule 5.2.2 states the holster must be worn on a belt, you can only run a thigh rig if you’re military or law enforcement and get approval from MD per rule 5.2.8.

USPSA is a game.  I could understand maybe a thigh rig but appendix IWB sounds a little crazy.  The tacticool factor is just about equal or worse for the IWB rig.  At least the thigh rig guys are using or hopefully using a duty rig.

??? 5.2.2 Competitors carrying their handgun in a holster must have an empty magazine well, and the hammer or striker must be de-cocked. Anyone found in violation of this rule will be immediately escorted by a Range Officer to a suitable range or safety area where appropriate corrective action shall be made.

And Appendix D1, D2 and D3 specify per rule 12 Restriction on position of holster and other equipment    No

and what's crazy about an IWB holster? Everyone I know carries that way, and it has nothing to do with TactiCool. It was ruled on by the NROI several years ago.

Appendix IWB holster

Created:
5/30/14
Updated:
8/12/15
Effective:
8/19/15
Rule Number:
5.2.6
Applies to:
Pistol
Ruling Authority:
Director NROI (JA)
Status:
Released

Question:
I can see nothing that would prevent a competitor from using a holster of safe design, inside the waistband, at a position forward of the hip bone, say 2:00 or even cross draw at 10:00, so long as they were in L10 or Limited Division and all other holster & drawing rules in section 5 and the Appendix Limited or L10 holster rules were complied with. Correct?
Answer:
Correct, 5.2.6 states USPSA Handgun matches will not require the use of a particular type or brand of holster. However, the Range Master may deem that a competitors holster is unsafe and order that it be improved to his satisfaction, failing which it must be withdrawn from the match. Divisions may restrict a specific type of holster. It is not one of the illegal holsters as outlined in 5.2.7 and following sub 5.2.7 rules. Some folks may be using the last paragraph of 5.2.6 as a reason to ban this type of holster because of 10.5.5, but that is wrong as 10.5.5.1 gives an exception to sweeping the extremities below the belt during the draw and holstering. If the competitor can demonstrate that they can draw and holster the handgun safely, there is no reason to not allow it, same as a cross draw holster.

Check out Gabe White. He made limited master shooting minor, from concealment, with an AIWB. F'n bad ace!

I carry AIWB and sometimes cap off a practice session with a little concealed carry work.

5.2.3 says the holster must be worn on belt, 5.2.7.2 says how far the below the belt the gun butt can be unless you get approval from MD for any other holster in 5.2.8
