38 Special WC or SWC & Trail Boss Powder

Trail Boss has the benefit of filling a case so it has become a favorite of Cowboy shooting.

It looks to be a good powder for punching paper holes for recreational target shooting with 148 gr Wad Cutters & 158 gr Semi Wad Cutters.
I am looking at coated or plated bullets.

Hodgdon web page shows load data for the 148gr Hornady Hollow Base Wad Cutter.

In the current edition of the Hornady Manual they no longer show Trail Boss load data.

Hodgdon does have this load data that seems to be the best available:
trail-boss-reduced-loads-r_p.pdf

Has anyone had any experience with it ?

I have used Trail boss for several years but only for my lead loads in 38 Special lead Wad cutters and .44 special.   The hollow base wad cutters are a fun load for target shooting and reduced loads are a great way of introducing young teens or new women shooters.

With home cast 158 SWC and coated 158 SWC I have used anywhere from 2.9 to 3.3 gr of Trailboss. Very soft and very accurate out of every gun I have. 2 inch j frame all the way to 7.5 inch Blackhawk. Only chrono out of a 4 inch gp100. It was laughable at 750ish fps. Great powder for plinking.
