Hawk21
I'm thinking of welding a bead to fill in the front slide serrations of edge, then plane down, and finally mill in some panel cuts... As I have never fit a slide before I feel like this would be a fairly easy way to give the pistol a custom look vs starting with a blank slide. Has anyone done something similar? Mushki25
Welding adds a lot of heat to the metal. It will often cause the metal to distort in fairly unpredictable ways. I'm not going to say this will not work but I would not try it. I would guess your best chance for success would be to tig weld. Best of luck if you give it a go. Benevolence
I would think you could just mill in ~0.025" deep slots in it. Just don't thin the area where the slide rail ends. No way would I weld on more material; you'd screw up the bushing hole diameter and front rails with distortion.
Gooldylocks
You could just mill out the serrations, to give the slide panels. I've seen that done by a few people.
Hawk21
I appreciate the cautionary statements New to 2011s and didn't really factor the tolerances into my thought process. I will just mill as is.
