lgh
I am considering converting a gen 2 G17 slide to carry optics and putting it on a gen 3 G17 frame. (I can't use the frame on the gen 2. Don't ask why!) Anyone have experience doing this? Does accuracy or reliability get messed up? Edited August 9, 2017 by lgh
BoyGlock
It should work
mikeAZ
Should be fine.... That said, try Gunbroker, there are several FFL's that sell tops/bottoms. I usually pay $190/$200 for a new complete lower shipped to my local FFL (gen 3 or 4). Edited August 13, 2017 by mike NM
Flatland Shooter
That's exactly what I did. I have a Gen 2 Glock 17 sitting in the safe unused. I also have a Gen 3 with a nice trigger. So I installed a FF3 on the Gen 2 slide and mounted it on the Gen 3 frame. It runs 100% and from the bench has acceptable accuracy. I do not shoot Carry Optics and do not know if this combination is USPSA legal (I thought about trying it in 3 gun).
lgh
Thanks for the replies. I know it is doable and was just wondering if someone had tried only to find accuracy/reliability went to pot. I'm going to plow ahead with the project.
