Looking for better thumb safety

I have the JP GMR15 carbine.

 

Is the thumb safety in this gun the same as on AR15's ?   

 

What thumb safetys are out there that offer shorter throw and larger thumb lever?

 

As is, the thumb safety on this carbine seems a bit stiff  and hard to flip off.

 

Thoughts?

It gets better with use. Also, there are 3 options for safety size on both sides from JP, what size are you running now? If you are running lower profile levers, you can always order the bigger ones, they just bolt on. 

 

I have no issues with getting mine off and on in competition, but I too thought it was a little stiff when it first arrived.

I ordered my JP with the large size safety on both sides.  Initially, I thought I made a mistake as the right side seemed to get in the way.  I got used to it very quickly.  Out of the 4 
classifiers I have shot, 2 required some weak hand (shoulder) starts.  I'm liking the large safeties.

I really like the Battle Arms ambi safeties.  I run them in all my AR's and in my M&P 15-22.

I have the Radian Talon on both my guns and really like them. You can use it as a 90 or a 45 degree throw. 45 degree is much faster for me. They give you 4 different size levers so you can use the ones that fit you best.

put one of these in my MPX, I think it's much faster to operate after you use it a few time.
