JANIJ00
I do not have a crono and I am wondering what fps others are getting from their commander length barrels with WST and a 200 gr lswc. My current load: Oregon Trail 200 gr lswc 4.8 gr WST WLP primer assorted cases What can I expect with a 200 gr lswc and 4.9, 5.0, 5.1 grains of WST? I am looking to make the 165 Power Factor for IDPA. I am aware that there are differences in barrels and that WST can be temperature sensitive, so I am looking for a little buffer greater than 825 fps. pbcaster45
Well, my Trophy Match is a 5 inch but maybe this will help. I'm right at the edge with no fudge factor so 4.8 would probably work for my gun. I've been up to 5.0 gr of WST which was really accurate (but I didn't chronograph the load). Bullet: H&G #68 200 gr. SWC (Oregon Trail) Powder: Winchester WST 4.5 grs. Primer: Federal 150 Case: Winchester LOAL: 1.245 Velocity: 825.94 fps ES: 14.06 SD: 5.
pbcaster45
No, it's not a typo. I've actually used 5.1 with the Oregon Trail 200 gr. RNFP but it's a different bullet of course. Bullet: H&G #68 200 gr. SWC (Oregon Trail) Powder: Winchester WST 4.5grs. Primer: Winchester Large Pistol Case: CCI LOAL: 1.245 Recoil Spring: 16 lbs Velocity: 822 fps Gun: S&W1911DK 5 inch barrel Bullet: Oregon Trail 200 gr. RNFP Powder: Winchester WST 5.1 grs. pbcaster45
I dusted off the old S&W1911DK and loaded up some Oregon Trails H&G 68s - but I didn't get the seating adjustment quite right and ended up seating the whole batch to 1.240 instead of 1.245. Holy Cow! They fed even better than before! The 1911DK functions 100% with H&G 68s but sometimes I'd get a little ding on cases from the feed ramp. At 1.240 the little dings were completely eliminated! And I was going to quit using them too! Not anymore! Well, maybe it's that new Lyman Taper Crimp Die I'm using... Bullet: H&G #68 200 gr. mlm
Using 5.3 gr HP-38 with a Bayou Bullet 200 gr SWC. Runs at 870 fps good USPSA load. OAL is 1.245-1.250. Mike
