Ultimate 92-series Competition Gun?

If you could build a competition model 92, what would it look like?

Steel frame?

Rail?

Generous magwell?

Bushing?

Brigadier slide with Front&rear cocking serrations?

G-lever?

What kinda sights?

Since we're talking about a 9mm, assume it is tailored toward IPSC/USPSA production.

Production? It already exists.. WC Brig Tac. For limited, the sky is the limit. Then there is carry optics..

"lets assume IPSC/USPSA production"...

So... if the sky was the limit on making a production 92 with, say, a barrel bushing and steel frame and a bigger mag well, you'd still say the WC BrigTac would be your preference?

For 1400 bucks yes. Thats still thebaluminum frame...and just a touch of magwell work...you cant do much if anything in production.

Steel frame with the Millennium or whatever its called checkering.

Bushing

M9A1 magwell flare

Vertec Trigger shoe

Vertec Slide With Elite II forward serrations

G lever

EII extended checkered mag catch

Wishful thinking.

  • 2 weeks later...

The upcoming Ernest Langdon model is close to my ideal but this is what I would want

-92g or 92A3 decocker only type setup with smaller levers if possible

-novak or Wilson rear sight

-dawson front sight

-black brigadier slide with front and rear serrations

-brushed stainless elite barrel

-some kind of slightly smaller slide stop

-elite hammer

-extended firing pin with lighter FP spring (I'm actually not sure how this would work out with the two piece Beretta set up but let's just say yes to use a lighter main spring)

-brushed stainless steel guide rod

-brushed stainless steel version of the Wilson brig tac frame with perhaps a slightly extended and contoured beavertail

-thin black g10 grips with very aggressive pattern

-black extended magazine release, maybe slightly more extended than the one used in the Wilson brig tac if we assume the grip thickness to be the same. Alternatively the grip could be further relieved near the mag button instead.

-flat plug instead of a lanyard loop

-mec gar nickel 18 rounders instead of the 15's

-wilson trigger bar

-all metal parts

I'm not sure such a model would make weight but if not, then a non-railed frame could be used or a vertex slide could be used. I would strongly prefer what I listed above though.

Then there would be an obligatory SAO version with a frame mounted rideable ambi wide safety and redesigned trigger shoe.

So....is a bushing legal in Production?

Yes. Beretta at one point made a IPSC model with a bushing called the stock. http://stevespages.com/pdf/beretta_92_combat.pdf

That looks pretty neat

I think a briley bushing or 1911 bushing 92G would be amazing if it can be done

Since Beretta is Beretta it would probably have a non-dovetailed front sight and heel mag release though just so it can't be perfect

It would also be great if Dawson would make Beretta rear sights.

A charger rear could be helpful in racking slides without front serrations then again the levers may still be in the way regardless

Working on a rear sight now...

That alone could bring me back to a Beretta.

I simply couldnt make it dance with the .150 Novak rear or the Wilson rear.
