223 on 550b with case feeder.

Recommended Posts

How hard is it to load 223 on a 550 with a case feeder on it. I know that some people have modified the case feeder to work with 223 and I may go down that road but I just don't shoot that much 223. So how hard is it to hand feed the cases or how much time with it take to take the feeder on and off. NOT looking to go with a 650 as I load to many cals to want to buy all new heads and kits.

Not sure I follow...but I load .223 on a 550 as fast as any other caliber I load; 9mm .45, etc.

It's the popping out the crimp and a trim that takes an extra hour per K outside of the press. But once that is done, or if it's brass I already loaded once and have shot, I just run it through.

What I want to know is just how hard is it to hand feed 223 brass with a case feeder in place.

The mods are easy.

Buy the small rifle plate for the casefeed hopper.

Buy the .223 (white) casefeeed adapter

But the 38supercomp guide for station #1.

You also need the .223 shellplate & buttons.

If you do a search, myself & others have posted on our specific setups & procedures.

Taking the casefeeder on & off is more trouble than it's worth. You really can't feed by hand with the casefeeder in place.
