I shot the carbine this year, Mark shot the bolt gun (we switch every year). Accurate barrel life on the 6.5-06 Ackley is about 2000 rounds. It’s about the same as a 7 mag or 6.5-284, but 1/3 of the shots are used for fire forming cases.

This years match was pretty easy on the bolt gun barrel. No stage required really rapid shooting (unless you went in the boat!!). The cross country humps were good cooling time for the rifle, but overheated the guy carrying it.

Shots on the field courses were about the same as previous years , but total for the match was less due to the cancellation of the side events. The 2 side events (man on man and scramble) were the ones that were tough on the barrels (rapid shooting, little time to cool before you shot again).
