OK,Folks, more info

First off, the 2013 Alabama Sectional Championship is NOW and Forever the Heart of Dixie Shootout. We will continue to use this name, even in the years where we are not also the Alabama State/Sectional Championship.

Next, Sam Keen has accepted the position again this year as Range Master

Third, This year's match will consist of 10 shooting stages plus chronograph stage.

As with last year, this year will be Trophy and Cash awards, and we intend go a little deeper with the awards then we went last year.

2013 Alabama Sectional Website

We will have a Facebook Page up soon.

The Website has the application up in PDF form. PLEASE NOTE: This PDF form allows you to type in most of your data - please do so, so that we can get the information correct. ALSO NOTE: We require the application and liability waiver with original signature along with entry feel for entry. ALL THREE, or we will not process the entry.

We will be applying for Level II sanctioning, and will doing online squadding, though that will probably not be up for at least another 6 weeks.

We are looking for staff - details on the application.

We will have a 154 Shooter maximum on each day, Friday and Saturday, - one day shooting format. We plan to use Practiscore scoring.

Last year we had 238 shooters, including 11 GM (one current and 2 former world champions), most have promised to come again.

We filled Saturday up 4 weeks before the match last year.

Sponsor prizes are distributed by random drawing, before the match and included in Shooter Welcome Bags. Last year we had $22K in Prizes and Cash distributed.

For those that have shot with us before - we are only a few weeks away from a re-configuration of many of our pistol bays - we will have 10 pistol bays all in a long row, with several of them enlarged, as well as one new one out in the woods to the right side.

Watch this space for information as I have it.

Ok guys and gals, the range has been re-designed with 11 pistol bays all in a row. If you have been to range before, the pistol bays now start from the front of the rifle range, where you enter the range from the creek, and go all the way past the previous last bay (which is now double in size) to a new bay that is 30yd wide, and 50yd deep.

We are working on the stage designs right now, but they will not be posted until after the first of the year. Expect us to use the new larger bays to their fullest extent, and have a high round count as usual (remember last year's per stage round count averaged something like 31.2). Don't expect a bunch of tricky stuff - we love run and gun here, but do expect a few long shots. No classifier stages, no Standards stages.

10 shooting stages, plus chrono stage. Larger, better located vendor area. Same great food. Same great staff.

We will be using Practiscore for scoring the stages. We may have a running up to the minute Results display.

We have a max of 154 shooters on Saturday, the same on Friday if necessary. Max of 14 shooters per squad, no more/no how. So if you want to shoot with your buds, get your applications in together.

YES, we need Range officers and experienced range staff. For your work, you will shoot for free, get a t-shirt, lunch on the day you work, tickets for drinks and snacks at the concession stand, and we give a nice gift to all our workers.

The match has a permanent name "Heart of Dixie Shootout", this will be an annual event.

Sponsor prizes will be distributed by random drawing prior to the match, and will be included in the shooters welcome bag. Grand Master shooters, be forewarned, you will not be placed in the random drawing - we expect that you will be more interested trying to win our generous cash prizes for the top finishers in each division.

Cash and Trophies for Winners. The cash will go deeper in the results this year.

Categories will be awarded per the USPSA rule book.

So folks, time to start talking this match up with your friends, and sponsors. Get those entries in. Those of you that want to work the match, get the entries in. Once we are full, we are full. Online squadding will begin the 1st of December.

Thanks All,

Mark Kauder

As in years past, we will recognize Divisions, Classifications, and Catagories at the levels recommended in the USPSA rule book. HOWEVER, for example we have only 3 Revolver shooters register as we did last year, we will notify them 2 weeks out that they may shoot the match without recognition (Trophies, etc), or change divisions, or withdraw from the match w/o penalty.
