Breech Face Pitting From Gas Cutting Using SPPM In Weak 9mm Loads?

My new S&W M&P 9Pro is experiencing the same problem, the breech face is eroding after less than 2000 rounds of mainly factory PMC ammo. I've shot a handful of reloads in it but don't think I should be seeing this on such a new gun... What to do??

Are you sure it's eroding? Drag a needle across the face and see if it "catches" on the ring. Sometimes that ring is nothing more than a carbon build up. Cotton swab with alcohol across the breech face will also let you know. Scrub it and see if it comes off...

"Primer seal" is to keep moisture out and will not retain high pressure gas (X0,000 PSI).

have you tested this? i don't think it has to retain x0,000 pressure gas, just has to help the primer seal.

Nope, but nail polish remover is pretty cheap and would be used more in industrial applications to plug leaks if that was all it took.

What does nail polish remover have to do with anything?

You've never heard of high pressure gaskets in industrial applications before?

It's not like it has to stand the test of time, just one cycle.

Anyone with USEFUL information have anything to add?

I meant nail polish - that's a typo there.

Give it a shot and be the first  :
