what about moly coated bullets?

Jacketed moly coated bullets are one of those things that seemed like a good idea but it didn't work out so well. Partly that's because manufacturers started moly coating bullets that had nothing to gain from it.

Take a look at natchez shooters, Champions choice or champion shooters supply. Most of the places that specialise in High Power shooting stuff will have a better price on sierra match bullets. Nozler bullets work almost as well and cost less. Natchez has nozlers in bulk for about half that of sierras.

If you can wait, cabelas has them on sale often for 89-99 for 500, sign up for the email list and they send deals for 5 shipping. or you can pickup the an order at the stire for no extra fee's, and you can get internet pricing in the store if you go up to the customer service counter, and they can adjust the price.

Is 500 the max you can get?? There has to be a place I can get a few thousand.

I have a few buddies in a school at Ft. Leonard Wood right now, I Think they are going to do an in store pickup at Midway. Guess I will place an order and have them bring it to me when they fly back.

I haven't done the google maps thing yet, so I don't know what the difference is distance-wise between Ft. Lost In The Woods to MidwayUSAS versus Ft. LW to Sedalia, MO where Sierra is located.

Supposedly, Sierra offers factory seconds per the pound. They just dump them into bins and you scoop them out by the pound. Again, supposedly, it is strictly cosmetic type blemishes to them that makes them culled into factory seconds.

I don't know how or if that comes out money ahead for you, price-wise, when you figure in shipping and all that.

I would call Sierra first, though.

What they won't do is ship seconds, unfortunately, but I guess I can see why. It is a fun place to visit, by the way. Wish I would have had more time when I was there. If I were going back, I would find out how many are in a pound & make sure the particular bullets you want are a good value buying them that way. It was very cool to see big wood barrels full of bullets with a scoop laying there. :-) Starline brass is right next door, so I went in their place as well.

+1 on Chills1994.

We do sell 'factory seconds' in the store front. I shoot seconds for everything rifle.

And if you have the time, you can get a free tour as well.

What makes them seconds? Im like a kid, I learn by pictures, can you take a few?

Sierra bullets is who dkleskiw is talking about. Any time they have an overrun(extras over a specific bullet order) or they break a punch in the bullet process(toss the entire batch), the "seconds" get tossed in a wooden barrel & sold by the pound right there at the factory in Sedalia Missouri. They won't ship them out, though.

I bought about 30 lbs last year. I bought 55gr FMJ and Ballistic tip blitz kings, 69gr SMK and 77SMK. The only ones I wont buy again are the ballistic tips. To many were severely deformed or not there at all. (they'll still shoot fine for hoser stuff I'm sure).

I took the time to weigh most of them, and only found maybe 10 bullets that were beyond +-.2gr of the stated weight. A couple had voids in the jacket at the nose.

A very good option if your buddies can get by Sierra to buy some.
