I got my first 2 USPSA matches under my belt over the last 2 weekends and shot the drill this evening. I made off with an armful of used targets from the match and made up some stands today. We shot it 8 times for an average of 9.1. My wife shot here first match yesterday and her average was 13.58 this evening. PM is on the way for the next step.

After a long lay off, I used this drill yesterday as part of journey back to some semblance of my former abilities. Learned a lot of stuff that i "know" but so easily tend to forget. Was a real help in tracking the sights, calling the shot and propper trigger control. Great drill!

Pm sent for part 2!

1. 6.80 - 1 = 7.3

2. 7.o4 -2 = 8.04

3. 6.51 -2 = 7.51

4. 6.86 -1 = 7.36

5. 6.60 -0 = 6.60

6. 6.83 -3 = 8.33

7. 7.62 -1 = 8.12

8. 7.16 -4 = 9.16

9. 7.88 -3 = 9.38

7.9ish avg

On the last 3-4 strings I caught myself thinking about what to do, and man did things go down hill fast. Gotta get this figured out or I'm just wasting ammo, but I do know if I can get this down it will help alot.

Try dry-firing this at home. Times should be nearly identical. You just need to be honest with yourself about what you saw. You want to be thinking about what you want to do over and over and over again until you start to automatically do it. Thousands of CORRECT repititions will make this drill subconsious.

This drill is really cool when modifed to a plate rack/simulated plate rack. The objective is EXACTLY the same, but you either hit your target or you don't. No pity points for a C/D hit.

Don't have a range that will allow me to fire the drill, so next best thing- set up one third size targets at fifteen feet, and dry fired the drill to various par times. Used a laser device to check poi. Started out at about 8 seconds and after about 20 minutes, was down to around 6.5 to 7 with an occasional C. Definitely noticed that moving the eyes to the next target was a limiting factor in overall speed. On the faster runs it seemed as if the gun wan not actually stopping on each target, but just slowing down for the shot while still moving. Weird, as I have never experienced this in live fire.

Thanks all,

Mark

I am a fairly new to action pistol, shooting production unclassified at this point with a idpa holster. I tried the drill today.

Time Penalty Total Time Draw time

.8.04 0 8.04 2.17

7.77 2 8.77 2.27

8.45 1 8.95 2.17

7.34 0 7.34 1.97

7.82 0 7.82 2.14

7.11 2 8.11 2.00

7.45 4 9.45 1.90 Bad grip

8.07 0 8.07 2.26

6.68 1 7.18 1.93

6.69 1 7.19 2.03

Clearly I need to work on my draw speeds and eye movement. Great drill.

Ran this drill yesterday.

Shot it with a Production Division CZ SP01 9mm

Borrowed gun and I didn't have a holster so I ran it with a barrel pick up.

Also spaced the targets out so there was 5m between each target.

Most runs were around 5.10-5.20 but not great hits. I was also having to reach across to the left to pick up the gun. I set up later where the gun was on the barrel indexed on the first target and picked it up using two hands. That run had good hits and was 4.53

#10 a 2.42 assuming a .8 second draw to the first shot is around a .18 split with A's every time. Smoking!

I do this drill a lot and the best I have been able to do all A's with my ltd gun is 3.99 and that felt almost out of control fast with .33 splits. Nice job.

Any guideline for what a Grand Master Production average score (time plus .5 for non-alphas) would be? I'm WAY slower than some of the times I'm seeing here...and I understand the important part of the drill is eyes snapping target to sites to next target, I'd just like to understand how far I am away from mastering the drill.

In my experience, I never felt I mastered anything.
