Looks for Match

Looks for Match (2/11)

  1. Hi ClayBuster! I don't have a 2.0 5", but I do have a M&P Pro 5". Here's my original (OEM) front sight height and the one I ordered from Dawson Precision: OEM front sight height: 0.195" Dawson front sight height now installed: 0.160" I hope this proves useful....I suspect the sight radius and rear sight height are similar enough, but I don't know for certain. All my best, Rob
  2. I can't compare it to an original G34 as I don't have one. I bought the slide and barrel for my Polymer 80 I recently "made". However, it is more accurate than my G17 and G22. The G17 will do 3" to 3.5" with most ammo, occasionally worse depending on the load. The G22 was 4" + almost always, sometimes 5" (as a side note, a Storm Lake barrel helped this gun quite a bit. The P80/G34/Brownells barrel is 2" - 2.5". Never had one larger than 2.5". It liked 124 and 147 the best. Zero 147 gr JHP bullets with Power Pistol had the best groups of all, as did Winchester Ranger LE ammo, 147 grain T-Series. One thing that probably helped a lot was a good set of sights...Dawson adjustable fiber optic. All fired supported from a rest, and at 25 yds. I am very happy with it, and it's much better than I'll ever be (but then again so are the G17 and G22 with their original barrels! )
  3. Good morning, all, I decided to purchase a Brownells barrel along with a Brownells slide for my Polymer 80 build and I'm very happy with the results. I purchased the G34 RMR slide and the Brownells Match Grade G34 barrel (Brownells p/n 078-000-548WB). It is fantastic! MUCH better than my Glock barrels (G17 and G22 for comparison, both gen iii ). It is drop in fit to the slide, but it has much tighter clearances when compared to my G22 and G17 factory slides and barrels. No issues with any of my reloads or factory ammo, very accurate, and no malfunctions after the first 150 rounds or so. For bullets I used Zero 115 gr FMJ, Win 115 gr JHP, Rem 115 gr JHP, Rem 124 gr JHP, PD 124 gr JHP, Berry's 147 gr RNDS, and Zero 147 gr JHP. For the lengths I load, there were no issues at all. I hope this is helpful to anyone deciding to purchase a barrel; I'd not be afraid of a Brownells barrel and I'm glad I took the chance. All my best, Rob
  4. Good morning, I ended up purchasing a Brownells G34 RMR slide and Brownells Match Grade G34 barrel. I couldn't be happier with the combination. I put them on my Polymer 80 lower, and the combination is flawless. 2" groups at 25 yds is the norm with most of my reloads, and 2.5" with Winchester Ranger 147 gr factory. The Brownell slides now have more contoured edges and the slide fits holsters pretty well (but not the Polymer80 frame, unfortunately). The only thing I'd prefer different is the slide serrations to have slightly less agresssive edges. You sure know when you've got a grip on them! Hope this helps anyone considering the combination!
  5. Good morning, I purchased the Apex Semi drop in, and was quite pleased that I didn't have to mess with the front of the barrel. Only had to fit the hood and as you state, mpom, it was a walk in the park. It certainly shoots much better now. I suspect that had the pad needed a bit of filing, it would have been even better, but I'm extremely happy with the results. Now, off to get a new front sight! Thanks to everyone for the input. I'm glad I kept it and put the barrel in rather than buying a 5" bbl M2.0.
  6. Nicely done, Adam500! Beautiful job and a source of great satisfaction that YOU built it! Who did the Cerakote for you? Looks like they did a fantastic job! All my best, Rob
  7. Thanks, everyone! Much appreciated. Anachronism, that's a good suggestion...thanks! I did just check but it seems only a conversion barrel and a threaded barrel are gunsmith fit. Based on the comments and help here, the semi-drop in will be great! Thanks, everyone. I appreciate the input and the time you took to help me! All my best, Rob
  8. Good morning, guys! Thanks!! Saab, I would be thrilled with groups twice that size! (Which I can't shoot anyway! ) I wasn't sure which barrel was the one folks were using that they were happy with, but it sounds like the currently made semi-gunsmith fit will be perfect once it is available. MemphisMechanic, thanks for the info! I was wondering if that was the case, since I did notice Brownells showed a gunsmith fit barrel that was 5" and not threaded, but it said discontinued. Hopefully mine is one of the not too far out ones....but then again, if I didn't have bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all! Once they are available again, I'll order one up. I've fitted a few 1911 barrels, and this seems to be a bit easier except for the muzzle end where I'd have to remove material only in two spots. The 1911 is easier for a guy like me because I can just measure my barrel and order a bushing of the right ID., and turn the outside down. We'll see how it goes! Thanks so much for the info and taking the time to share it, guys. Very much appreciated. All my best, Rob
  9. Good morning, I'm considering an Apex 5" barrel for my M&P 9mm. Folks here on the forum seem to like the gunsmith fit barrel best, but it appears only the conversion barrel and one of the threaded barrels are gunsmith fit, the remainder are semi fit. Was there once a 5" barrel that was gunsmith fit, or when I see gunsmith fit mentioned it's referring to the semi fit barrel? Thank you in advance for any help! All my best, Rob
  10. Good afternoon, iflyskyhigh! Thanks for the info! Actually, your description was very helpful indeed! I can understand why the sharp edges may cause that type of binding in the holster. I looked at my Comp Tac and the bends where it goes around the slide have a radius to keep them from kinking during forming, and if the slide has a sharp edge, it would continually dig into that. If I pick one up, I'll be sure to give that some consideration during holster selection! Thanks again for the info! All my best, Rob
  11. Good afternoon, all, Has anyone purchased a Brownell's Glock barrel, and if so, what are your experiences with the fit, function, and accuracy? Thanks in advance for your time and interest! All my best, Rob
  12. Good afternoon, iflyskyhigh, What about the slide makes the fit poor in some holsters? Is it width, height, or a combination of the two? Thanks! All my best, Rob
  13. Good evening, Fordfan485, Is it a recent development since the last cleaning? That would certainly be cause for concern. I'd suggest sending it back to S&W. It almost looks as if the barrel didn't unlock completely when it drops down during the recoil cycle. But, I'm far from an expert, so take that with a grain of salt. I have a Shield that went back to S&W for a barrel that had a feed ramp cut at too steep an angle. I nearly had a case rupture with some Winchester Ranger ammo. They were very prompt and helpful in getting it fixed. I only mention this because they really treated me right in getting it fixed promptly. If it's not too much trouble, would you keep us up to date on what you find? I'd be interested to see what happened to it. I have a 9 Pro, too, but only 100 rounds thru it and it hasn't done what yours has yet. Thanks for sharing that...I hope it gets resolved to your satisfaction. All my best, Rob

    Sig P320

Good morning, all, I've had my P320c for a couple months now, and the more I shoot it the more I like it. The trigger pull on mine is excellent. Heavier than my Glocks from the factory, but the smooth, fairly short take up and crisp release with almost no over travel and a great reset has me hooked. I've only shot 650 round thru it, 1/2 9mm and 1/2 40S&W, but it's my new favorite gun. The accuracy in both calibers is bettered only by a USP40, and oddly another HK, a P30L 9mm. But not by much....probably due to my lackluster skills rather than the gun. I'll admit the trigger is heavier, but every other aspect of the trigger is so nice, I don't mind, or really notice it. It's a far better trigger than a factory M&P or factory XD in my opinion, both of which personally I don't like at all. Gun preference is like ice cream preference, everybody has the flavor they love (and a few we all hate!!), but this is my new favorite. I still enjoy the others, but this gun appeals to my taste. Warmest regards, Rob
  15. Good afternoon, I, too, find the Shooting Chrony Beta (mine is a Beta Master) to be excellent. I've compared it to some friends more expensive ones, and the recorded velocities are nearly identical within the tolerances of the units. There's others with more features and a bit more convenient to use, but I've been using the Beta with the printer you can buy separately, for nearly 15 years and it's been perfectly acceptable. It's also nice that it doesn't break the bank, and the printer is a nice to have, but not a need to have. I have found that if I use the "skyscreens" all the time, I never have to worry about a bullet not getting "seen". So, whether sunny or not, I find that seems to work best for me. All my best, Rob
