Looks for Range (1/11)

1st I would like to say this was my first major match so I don't have anything to compare to but thought it was a very organized, well run match with stages that made me make a plan and try to stick with it. 2nd a big thanks to everyone in squad 106. The entire squad was very supportive and helpful even with the very BAD day I ended up having due to my own negligence. 3rd an apology to squad 106 for my negligence in paying attention to my own physical shortcomings. I did not eat breakfast due to nerves and excitement. By the 2nd stage I was physically shaking by the 3rd stage my mental and physical capacities were gone and I didn't even know if I was going to be able to continue. Thanks for your patience and thanks to my wife for getting food and liquids in my so I could continue. If my inattention to my condition in any way deterred from your experience I apologize again. Thanks again, Larry L. A64474 P.S. I am 45 yrs old, should know better!!

I dropped my app in the mail marked for Production. I planned on having an aftermarket barrel to shoot lead through my G17 by match time but this may not happen. This wouldn't be a problem if I hadn't already loaded 1,500 rounds with the plan of having a new barrel. I don't mind shooting a few lead rounds through the stock barrel but I don't feel real comfortable shooting 300-400 rnds. Will it be a problem if I have to switch to SS at the last minute? Larry

I have been through a couple of matches and many range trips with my PT1911. No problems so far except the ambi-safety was wanting to come apart. Until I decide which safety I want I just bent the tabs together and reassembled and have had no further problems. I ordered a new barrel bushing just because it seemed kind of sloppy but I think it probably still shoots better than me. Larry

Try doing a short sell through B of A. My wife lost her job, found another but at a $25,000.00 a year loss so we can't afford the house anymore. It took so long we lost 2 buyers and am now in the midst of foreclosure.

The answer to both is yes. Be advised though the road into the club is gravel...Bring along a piece of wood or something for your stand in case you have to park in the grass. I don't think the center stand will help a lot if it gets wet. I don't mind a little gravel. Thanks for the info. Will be sending in my app. today.

A couple of questions. On the self squadding page it shows Thursday for staff, sponsors, & vendors. Is it possible to shoot Thursday? Next, is the parking area safely accesible to a motorcycle(GoldWing pulling a trailer)? Trying to make everybody happy by shooting on Thursday and then spending 3 days cruising around on the scooter with the spouse!

I have made quite a few Kydex holsters but never did come up with a good design for competition mag pouches. I will give this one a try. I saved the DXF file and when I get a chance I will post process and try cutting the pattern. All I have right now is some .125 Kydex but I will cut it and see what happens. Will let everyone know how it works out. Larry

Everything went well, except for the fact I had 1 squib in the batch. I felt kind of bad, I loaded up about 500 rnds for a buddy, his son, and me and my buddy got the squib. I was sure I looked in every one of them before I seated the bullet but must of missed one. Lesson learned and no one got hurt or damaged a firearm. The rounds fed perfectly and shot accurately so I am pretty happy in general.

Guess I left out some info. 9mm, 1.140 OAL mostly out of an XDm and a few out of G17. Trying to decide which gun I prefer.

Joined the USPSA, got classified and now I am going to test my first reloads in an actual match this weekend. I just came from the range, my ammo is grouping and functioning great. I am using 4.8 grains of #5, Remington primers, Suters 147 grn LFP, and mixed brass. On the chrono they were averaging 914 fps. I am pretty excited to see how they do in the real world. Larry

I paid $48.76 for 3 mags shipped at militarygunsupply.com. Shipping was a little high but still only came out to about 16 bucks a piece.

I have 3 of these for a G17, only about 50 rnds. through each, no problem yet. The springs seem weaker than Glock mags. Larry

Between having an urge to shoot Production, the price of ammo, wanting a new pistol, and a lot of whining my spouse said she would by me a new pistol for Christmas. I had it narrowed down to an XD, XDm, M&P, 24/7, and a Glock. So we went to the local shop to fondle my selections and see what felt the best to me, a thanks for the patience and help of the guys at Shooting Sports Unlimited in Moline, IL. At the end I narrowed it down to an XDm or Glock, it was a tough decision, they both felt good and Springfield Armory is a local manufacturer but in the end the Glock was my pick. I have only ran about 200 rnds through it but so far I am very pleased with my decision. I am hoping to get some mags ordered and try it out at the local indoor match on the 25th. Up to this point I have been shooting a Witness Match .40 in Limited so this is something completely different, but I think I am going to really enjoy shooting the G17. If I end up liking it as much as I think I will a G19 or G26 may be on the list for daily carry. Larry

milan, IL steel challenge
lmlong replied to colbyjack's topic in Match Announcements - Pistol Only - USPSA, IPSC & Misc.
I would also like to say I had a good time and thought things ran very well, especially with the late start we got due to weather. Unfortunately I was unable to finish the course due to time constraints, but hope to see more steel matches in the future. Larry
