Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I have been shoot the M&P9 for several months now. Have not had the opportunity to try the Pro yet. I am using a Blade-tech DOH holster with Comp-tac double mag pouches. Both have worked well. With the Comp-tac double pouches you are able to adjust the tension for each magazine.
  2. Welcome to the forum. Lots of great information here to help you on your journey.
  3. Dawson list 3 different fiber optic front sight in their current catalog. The catalog shows a .090, .100 and a .125 front sight width.
  4. Dang it dan, was wondering where you saw the 9L? I think I would rather try the 9L and tune it to my liking.
  5. On my M&P, I am using the Warren tactical rear .150 with a .125 Dawson fiber optic front. I like this combo very much. As my eyes get older I am able to pick up the larger front sight better.
  6. Here is one I ran across. I have found many good quotes researching this. Here is just one: "A bad attitude or unsettled mind will destroy focus, guaranteeing failure regardless of training and preparation." - Mark F. Twight, "Extreme Alpinism"
  7. Thanks all for the advice. I will put it to good use at the range next day off. CZTN
  8. Jake and Sam: Thanks for the reply. It was just what I needed to hear. Spook, Expectations is anticipating that something will happen. I started out trying to learn to call a shot 6 weeks ago. This was the sole purpose of my weekly live fire sessions. For the first 3 weeks I shot 150 to 200 rounds into the berm doing nothing but looking at the front site. I found that in trying to do it slowly that I only saw the sight return but if I shot a little fast that I could see the sight leave as well as return. So in the 4th week I thought I would try incorporating a target into the practice. I set up the target at 25 yards so that I needed my a spotting scope to see the holes. I started with the berm then tried the target marking an extra target as I went. The results were that I had correctly marked about 30%. This to me falls more into the I guessed right category not the I called the shot category. So to make a log story short I went back to the berm for the 5th session. The sixth session I tried with the target and the same results as the 4th session. I think I am going to take the suggestion of try a bigger piece of blank paper and take small steps in narrowing down to a smaller target. CZTN
  9. Do expectations have a place in shooting or are expectations a manifestation of being closed minded? The reason I bring this up is that in trying to learn to call a shot, I have been unable to move from shooting at the the berm to shooting at a target and seeing the same thing. CZTN
  10. When I used to shoot trap we did do some eye muscle exercises prior to shooting. boz1911, can you tell us about the eye exercises you did? and did you see any tangible results from doing them? cztn
  11. Welcome to the forum. Lot of great info here. The search function will soon become your friend. CZTN
  12. After reading threads till my eyes are blurry, as a beginner what are some of the pitfalls to avoid in practicing as well as matches. The one I have seen the most is not let speed become your main goal. What are other ones that a beginner needs to avoid? CZTN
  13. Welcome to the forum. what part of TN are you moving to? There are some great clubs in the Middle Tn area.
  14. +1 for the Canon 100 macro lens. Great picture quality for the money. Also look at the Tamron 90 macro. Have played around with it and the picture quality is also very good but not quite as much money as the Canon.
