Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. The forum is up and running well with over a 100 posts and 30 + members. Come take a look and join if the Load Master or the Classic Turret Press are your "go to" reloaders.
  2. Announcement: There is a new website devoted to the Lee Load Master progressive loading press and other Lee products. You will find many useful videos for setup and operation and trouble shooting of the Load Master. http://loadmastervideos.com/ The website is sponsored by Darwin-T who has produced some of the videos to be found there. Most of the videos have been collected from You Tube and other web sources. They will solve just about any issue involving set up and operation. You will also find a link on the upper left hand side of the home page that takes you to the new forum associated with this website— http://forums.loadmastervideos.com/forums/ Other Lee products are dealt with too. There is a small section re: The Lee Classic Turret Press and the Lee Safety Prime System. Useful links are given to very good set up and trouble shooting sites for this press too. Please register and become a member of this forum so you can bring your questions, problems and view many of the existing solutions that folks have with the Load Master. There are other useful links listed, not the least of which is – http://negligentdischarge.com/ This one is scary and is a lesson for us all. Thanks to Darwin for his honesty and commitment to gun safety. No one wants to see an accident like this happen again! When the Load Master is running smoothly it is the best value in reloading., IMHO. When someone is having trouble it can be a real nuisance. Fortunately, most of the issues with a Load Master can be fixed very simply with the help of the videos or by getting help from some of the very knowledgeable people who are helping to get this website going. Take a look, join up and have some fun! PS—I know Darwin deeply appreciates the financial help that some of the guys on Glock Talk provided to him after his recent accident. He has used some of that money to get the website going and he asked me to say “Thanks to you all!”
  3. Thanks for the fast response. I thought it would work okay. JFD--I'm not quite as goofy as I sound. I have experience with the Dillon powder measure--used an SDB for awhile--and had some issues with small charges of flake powders, plus, no one told me about putting the old return spring mod on it to get rid of the "improvement" Dillon made a few years ago. I have used the Lee fixed cavity disks for over a year and get incredibly good repeatability of powder drop; plus it's just plain easier to change - over when changing powders or loads, no fiddling with the thumb screw on the Dillon. I guess I'll be filling primer pickup tubes in my spare time. The blue alternative is a bit too pricey for a retiree.
  4. I am considering purchasing a RL550. I have Lee Deluxe Pistol Dies in .45 ACP and 9mm and two Lee Pro Autodisk Powder measures. Will the powder measures work on the 550? They have the powder-through expander die in them and can be rigged for auto return with a spring so they will bell case, drop powder and return to "ready" position for the next case. I like the simplicity of the Lee Autodisks and hope they will work. I would set up the 550 with resize/deprime in station1; bell case and powder drop in station 2; seat bullet in station 3; and, factory crimp in station 4. Unrelated question: does anybody know where a Frankford Arsenal Vibra-Prime unit can be found, new or used? Thanks for your help.
  5. I would also be happy to take any Load Master for shipping costs. They are a wonderful press for the money--I have just set one up, following the directions exactly. It took two hours from drilling the holes in the bench to the first loaded round. The case feeder, which does not cost $200+ works beautifully. If the primer depth seating is properly set and the return chain for the powder meausure too, per directions, the press works flawlessly. I have no doubt I can hit 7-800 rounds per hour once I'm organized. I spent less than $250 for the press with dies and a case collator. Where is there a better deal? It seems to me people pay one ton of money for some presses with 'lifetime' guarantees so they have a 'free' stream of dollar parts that they break. You have to have a lot of dollar parts to catch up. The Lee guarantee is 2 years and they stick to it. After that if I break a spring or a decapping pin I can afford to buy one for a few bucks.
  6. I'm a real newbie to brass cartridges--have reloaded shotshells for 40 years and never came across "PF" What is its definition?
