Finally read the FAQs

Finally read the FAQs (3/11)

  1. GrumpyOne..... I know the guy. Excuse me, it was kind hearted ribbing of a friend.
  2. Wait..... You did what?????? A GLOCK?????
  3. I put a set of regular Warren Tactical Sevigny Competition sights with plain black front site. Love then on all of my GSSF guns. Pocket Glock division is not easy street to shoot and do well. Gotta focus!
  4. I shot the 34 quite a bit in USPSA, Steel Challenge and GSSF, and really liked it. I ended up switching to a G17 a few years back for all shooting disciplines so I can just use the same gun, and can also shoot more divisions in GSSF matches with the G17 than you can with the G34
  5. I prefer the OEM "-" connector in my guns. Most important thing I want for my Glocks in competition is for them to work every time. I've seen far too many aftermarket parts in the guns that don't work reliably. I realize I'm in the minority, but its worked well for me. Learning to control the trigger and shoot the gun right has been better than any add on part or trigger job
  6. You need to check the engagement of the trigger bar with the firing pin lug. You need an orange "half" slide plate cover to be able to look into the gun and see if 2/3 of the trigger cruciform in engaging with the firing pin lug. Any less than 2/3 is likely your problem. Also G19's prior to the serial # "EH" cannot use the new current G19 trigger. If you serial number falls into this range, you need to use a trigger bar that is marked with a "+" on top of the cruciform. (not to be confused with any marking on the connector.)
  7. One DQ was for gun being removed from the holster before the "make ready" command
  8. Thanks for putting on a fun match Ray, Tom and others....... Note to self for next year..... Bring more ammo! (And don't try to buy more in Illinois!)
  9. As for big sticks, I'd get a couple Arredondos and at least one Taylor Freelance base pads. The Taylor works well, after you tune it a bit and having at least one 27-28 round mag means that you won't need to reload on many stages. How do you "tune" a Glock mag with Taylor base pad? I honestly don't know what it means to "tune" a mag. Help shed some light please!
  10. So I have read all the threads I can find here about 9mm major, and it seems that very few people use the 147 grain bullet for 9mm Major, most opt for a 124/125 grain bullet. My question is why the lighter bullet? To make the comp work better is the answer I've heard a couple times? How is that so? I'm not a gunsmith or engineer so can someone explain to me? I have shot alot of Production with a Glock 34 and I found the 147 grain bullets to be the softest shooting and easiest to make Minor with. Just curious as to the reasoning for the lighter bullet when switching to a 9mm major load. Thanks!
  11. One guy at our range has one. He has had nothing but problems with it, and it locked up or something on him the other day just before the Area 3 match.
  12. I can't speak for every match, but I can tell you every stage at Area 3 we entered the scores into the Palm, then the scorekeeper wrote out a small receipt showing all A-B-C-D-M-PR-NS and the total time, and this is what is signed, and a copy given to the shooter.
  13. It is simply a familiarization issue. Once you have used them several times it is very easy to use, and it is good to get stats quickly. I can only speak for the stage I'm working but we have had zero issues with the palm, and our stage has been flowing quite nicely. Now I shouldn't have said that because today is going to be the heavist load of shooters Eastern Nebraska is my home club, so I am fairly familiar with using the Palm scoring.
  14. What are the benefits for a small club that wants to run steel challenge type matches in joining the SCSA???? The info packet USPSA sent me says the following.... 1) Promotional support in Front Sight and SCSA Website I see Steel challenge is getting some print in Front sight magazine, however I don't see anything on the SCSA website that lists affiliated clubs, other than one set of match results from Washington, and the ISI range listing. 2) Access to the National Ranking system for your members What is the Steel Challenge National ranking system????? I don't see anything about it on their website. Is there somewhere on the sight that lists what the exact divisions are also? Looking over the results it looks very scattered. (ie. Senior Limited, Limited Revolver, Law Enforc, IDPA???) I'm curious to hear from others who either have run these matches for a while or those new to it. Is your club paying the affiliation? What benefits do you see? Thanks!
