Looks for Range (1/11)

1. Have you ever noticed that reticles in YouTube videos look so bloomed out when the reviewer says they look crisp? It's not your astigmatism, it's a lack of focus. No, not your lack of focus but the reviewers inexperience with manual camera focus and the camera sensor's inability to adjust exposure as well as our human eyes. https://youtu.be/-LvSG161Qvk
2. https://youtu.be/NZTBPpZk0Mc https://youtu.be/X0qgQoej5zE These videos made me reconsider my assumptions about over-penetration with my Sub2K 9mm in regards to concern for my kids in their rooms or neighbors (I live in a city townhouse). I was surprised to learn that 9mm Defensive ammo over-penetrated as much or more than a 223/556. But I agree, 556 is much more unpleasant and disorienting to fire indoors than a 9mm. I've now added a spare pare of electronic ear-pro to my HDef ready gear (pistol belt, holster, spare mags, etc.). The amplification of "normal volume" sound is a plus.
3. Does anybody have recommendations for a plain/inexpensive Picatinny rail for an M2 Field? I'm drilling and tapping the top of my American edition M2 which comes with a .32" sighting grove on the top of the receiver. I'd like to find a rail with a flat base that will fit within that flat sighting groove to provide a snug fit and low-profile so I can sight along the ribs and bead with optics removed. Unfortunately, the bases I've been suggested aren't ideal because: 1) Are too short because they're made for the M2 Tactical with the ghost ring. or 2) Are made for round-top receivers like the Tactical or SBE and have a concave base. 3) Are flat top but too wide and won't fit within the .32" groove. 4) Are bulky rails with integrated saddles.
4. I'm planning to drill M2 Field to add a Picatinny Rail for optics (adding a Mossberg 500 Rail which is longer than the shorter Benelli rail made for the M2 Tactical). Does anybody have experience in drilling the Benelli M2 receiver? It appears to be 2 part, with a thinner outer shell. Are there any special considerations such as depth or bit type or size that I should be aware of? I'm planning on using an M5 sized bit and thread tap.

6. I've been shooting handguns and .22 rifles most of my life but I'm a shotgun noob. I just bought my first shotgun, a Benelli M2, with the intention of having a good one that I could use explore a number of sports: 3 gun, sporting clays, or birding. There's a lot I've had to learn and I decided to record it. I've uploaded an unboxing video, it's not public yet, and before I do release it, I'd like to share it with you more experienced shooters. I'd like to make sure I address any glaring mistakes, misidentifications or bad advice. If you catch any of those, would you please post it here and I'll amend it with corrective captions over the weekend.
7. I forgot it has a limiter/spacer that's factory installed which is why I could only insert 2 rounds in the tube! Why do they put one in anyway, is it to comply with some law or because of some shooting clubs requiring 2rnd limits to shotgun capacity because they're over-and-under centric? Speaking of laws, I've just been reminded that since I live in CA, I can't install a +8 tube because we have a 10rnd limit even for internal/integral magazines.
8. Yes, that's me. Not much call for o-rings in shotguns though, lol.
9. I just purchased my first shotgun, an M2 Field (American) with a 28" barrel. I'm trying to decide between Nordic and Carlson's for an extension tube. Looking on the Nordic website, their sizing chart says I can buy an +8 tube which would be flush with the barrel. Their description says this would add 8 rounds to the factory capacity (2rnds) which I take to mean that I would have a total of 10rnds? Nordic sells a kit now which includes a tube, coupler, spring, and end-cap. It does not include a clamp or follower. Do I need to buy a new follower or can I use the original follower in my shotgun? Carlson's Extension Tube kits include the tube, coupler, spring, follower, and clamp and are currently on sale at Bass Pro/Cabella's. But they only have an 8 round tube. I'm not sure if this is equal in capacity to the Nordic +8 tube or just means it's equivalent to the Nordic's +6 size? Also, is the Benelli OEM tube cap important to have on the tube? I heard that they were designed to be some sort tool though can't seem to find any reference to that use in the manual.
10. G17 now but I learned to shoot with a 1911 so I'm reeducating my muscle-memory.
11. My friend David suggested I join the board as he said its a great place to learn I don't own a shotty yet but will be doing my research before jumping in. It's a little more challenging as I now live in the People's Republic of San Francisco.
