Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. STI says .435"-.445" lip width. Benny Hill once told me he likes .415". I would suggest .415". Pat Thanks, I'll do the .415 first. All 8 .45 mags were right on .390" and fed terribly. I borrowed a couple that were at .430 and they were smooth but I'll bet Benny went a little tigher for a reason.....;-)
  2. Anyone know what the feedlips on the STI .45 mags are suppossed to measure?
  3. Do you have a Firebird MKA 1919 or a stock one? JJ Not a Firebird but with 922 compliant stuff
  4. I'd settle for a pair of coupled 10 rounders and several 5 rounders!!!!! WHERE?????
  5. MAGS!!!!! I need MAGS!!!! Where do we get those cool 10 round mags that fit together???
  6. I had my Lasik when I was 53 (2008), it was great until last year. They did an enhancement in September and mistakenly "flipped" my left eye to near sighted. I have to wear a -.50 30 day contact until March when they can TRY again. I lost some distance in my right eye but the front sight got a bit clearer. The 200 yard steel is harder though. I learned again why Doctors call it a PRACTICE!!!! Mine was $3500 for a lifetime treatment (I was a LEO then). I think I would do it again but also know that when you're in your late 50s, early 60s, it just isnt going to be the same. Too bad though because there's only two things I hated losing when getting older, one was the eyesight...
  7. Just a bought a Sideways Quinn II C-More mount for my Nine Major open gun but dont know the correct size tap to use for the screws. Please help if you know the dimensions of the screws that come with mount so a correct tap and die can be used.
  8. "It's just too bad Steve can't control the weather." There are times when he thinks he actually can!!! He takes his meds and it goes away.....
  9. I learned a valuable lesson about human physiology and shooting. I had a colonoscopy less than 24 hours before we shot the RO match. So, if the Doctor tells me I can't drive, what about shooting like we do? He didn't figure that! That first day was a bit sloppy (go figure) but Sunday was better. I wonder what they used for the anesthestic??? I polled a few of the "old guys" that came through our stage about have a colonoscopy. NOT FUN but they could save your life!! No more palms!!!
  10. I started in about 95 shooting my duty gear and hit B class for LTD. In 96 I bought an SV .40 (still have it, 150,000+ rounds, 4 slides and three barrels later...) and the race was on, I hit M class in 97 at Area 4 and went to OPEN where some GMs threw out some tricks on speed and shooting with both eyes open. I went back to LTD in 2000 at age 45 and was shooting almost 30,000 rounds a year. I got the GM card and started to see my eyes go away (you'll get there!) Shooting a bunch of matches WILL help but shooting A BUNCH OF PRACTICE with the right guidelines will go a LONG way. Take a class from Max, Travis, or your favorite GM and practice the hell out of what they tell you...You'll get there!! A27257 I get to be a SENIOR AGAIN this year!!!
  11. I just bought 1000 .40s from Rozedist.com with no problem but I had to buy 165s as they had no 180s....
  12. I shoot two SVs 40s. One has a non AET Schuemann for practice and the match gun has an AET gain twist TiN barrel without the fluted chamber. They both do very well with Zero 180s FMJs or JHPs at 1.160" over around + or - 5.0 grains of N320 (velocity adjusted for your barrels). MGs are good as are Precision Bullets BUT the PBs may not do well in the gain twist barrel, the longer/heavier ones seem to shoot better...
  13. Several of us have been shooting the N320/180-185 loads around here since the early 90s. When someone has something new to try, I give it a look but always come back to the N320/180 load for my .40s. My original SV bull barrel gun is at 147,000 rounds of which most are the N320/180 load. I've stayed with them for long dustcover heavy slide guns to my favorite .40 which is a 5" "fatfree" gun that Benny built. When sprung right, the N320/180 load has run everything I've had and the only way I would stray is if N320 was gone! A VV tech tested that load in about '97 and found it a very well balanced load. Long live N320/180s!!
  14. Is that 9 major spreadsheet posted anywhere? Are you saying HS6 is cleaner than Silhouette? I've put 4000 rounds through this gun in two months and figure there has to be a better/cleaner way to shoot major 9. I'm really not wanting to pull my OLD B Custom super out of mothballs.
