Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I will just purchase the Dawson Mag. tuning kit and be done with it - I hope. Thanks
  2. I'm looking for thoughts on what distance to set up steel plates for practice with 3 gun matches in mind. Shooting 9mm. We have a big piece of property and several sets of plates so we could set up at varying distances if recommended. I have never been to a three gun match and only watched on TV and you tube where distance is hard to judge so any advice would be appreciated.
  3. Thanks - I will give it a try
  4. For those who might refer to this post in the future, the DVC 3 Gun can indeed be stripped just like a standard 1911. For folks new to STI's, watching you tube videos can be confusing with references to bent paper clips, tool-less guide rods, etc.
  5. I purchased a new DVC 3 Gun a month ago and have run 600 rounds through it with 3 different new mags. I would estimate that gun locks back only 10% of the time at best.
  6. Actually I the video he does mention dealing with a bushing barrel but my gun is new and I am having difficulty getting the bushing to come off. I can turn the bushing fine and remove spring but I can't get bushing to come out of slide. Must just be new and super tight. Thanks
  7. I watched that Mike but that's not a bushing barrel like the 3 Gun. I just wanted to be sure that procedure wasn't any different for my gun. I appreciate the help.
  8. I just received a new DVC 3 Gun and I'm planning to strip and lube prior to trying it out this weekend. In an attempt not to screw something up prior to firing first shot I want to be sure and get the field strip and reassembly procedure correct. The instructions in STI manual that came with gun are not great and don't even mention a procedure for gun with a bushing like mine. I have searched the net and checked out you tube but I can't find anything that addresses DVC 3 Gun. I am very familiar with tearing down 1911's with solid guide rods and bushings but unfamiliar with 2011 with guide rods that have holes for paper clip tools to release spring pressure etc. This has to be simple. Can anyone shed some light on proper field strip procedure for this gun? Thanks

The instructions in STI manual that came with gun are not great and don't even mention a procedure for gun like the 3 Gun Model. I'm used to cleaning 1911's with solid guide rods and bushings but I am new to 2011's with guide rods that have a hole in them to insert paper clip to release spring tension, etc. I have searched internet and you tube for help with no luck. Should I just field strip this gun like a regular 1911? Any help appreciated.
