Hi guys im trying to work up a load for my kimber .270wsm hunting rifle im using 130gr sierra bullets. Im having some troubles figuring out my max oal for this load it seems the throat of this rifle is very short. I tried making a "dummy" round and coloring the bullet with a sharpie and seating the bullet deeper and deeper till no marks from the lands appeared in the bullet and they stop showing up around 2.744" which seems very short! SAAMI specs list 2.860 as max OAL. And the federal commercial ammo I had laying around measures 2.780" and ive never had a problem chambering factory ammo. I loaded up a ladder at 2.730" which is the shortest oal load data I could find and they all chambered well, accuracy was so so but I found a good accuracy node that I would like to work on a little more by adjusting seating depth. I put together another dummy round and seated it to 2.800" the cartridge chambers fine with no increase in pressure required to close the bolt handle and no extra pressure required to extract the cartridge but I do see scratches around the bullet ogive from contacting the lands which has me confused as I would think that if the bullet was being shoved into the lands it would be harder to chamber and extract. Am I doing something wrong here or is this common?

Thanks for all the great info. Im going to put in an order tomorrow for the bushing and a srs disconnector from cgw. I also need a front sight I bought a competition rear sight from czc but didnt want to drill out the front for the pin so I think ill go with the cgw fiber optic front. From what Ive read seems like ill need a 6.5mm. Does that sound right?

I just finished up loading 1000 147gr nlg fp 9mm from acme yesterday and didnt have a single bullet that had coating flaking off or was deformed

Was thinking about getting a barrel bushing for my SP-01 tactical and was wondering if it actually makes a difference in accuracy, and also how difficult it is to install

Went out and bought a RPR on friday. Took it out this weekend and put 100 rounds through it and have to say im very impressed my best groups were .52" at 100yds and .76" at 200yds. Also very impressed with the 6.5 creedmoor round its a joy to shoot low recoil and very accurate. Thanks for all the advice guys I appreciate it

Hey guys my wife is wanting to get into long range precision shooting. Ive been researching different rifles and it seems to get a quality rifle your looking at $3k+ before optics. Thats more than im willing to spend for a hobby that im not sure she is going to stick with. So I think Ive decided just to get her a RPR in 6.5 creedmore and if she sticks with it we can always upgrade in the future. So my question is, is the RPR a good rifle for a beginner? Ive read a lot of reviews on them and most of them are good but I have read a few bsd ones. Also what style reticle would you guys recomend for someone just getting into PRS. I think im going to go with the Vortex viper pst. I know there is better glass out there but again looking at price point I think it will be plenty good for her right now.

Ok target distance was somewhere around 30 ft im shooting 9mm 147gr coated lead over 3.0grs of TG at 1.140" oal. Out of a cz75 sp-01. I have watched videos on grip and stance the stance I feel Im pretty good with. The grip im still working on I love the feel of the sp-01 rubber grips but they almost feel like they are too small for me I dont feel as though the palm of my off hand has enough room to really get pressure on it which doesnt make sense to me because they are pretty beefy grips and ive never noticed a problem with my grip on my other guns although I havent really shot much else since learning a proper grip. I dont have pictures but will try to get some next time I shoot. Thanks again

Thanks for the advice ewuwpew. What other info should I have included? To clarify Im not new to shooting at all ive been shooting since I was old enough to hold a gun til this point it has just been more based on hunting and plinking which ive never seen the need to practice fast follow up shots.

And ive tried increasing pressure with my offhand but it makes it hard to hold steady... I think that part is just practice and conditioning

Havent got a timer yet im using an app on my phone and to keep accuracy with my 2nd shot im at or just above 1sec

Hi everyone, just trying to get started in uspsa production shooting and was wondering if you guys have any suggestions for drills. I went out and tried shooting double shots at multiple targets yesterday and the results were pretty bad. Takes me way too long to get my sight picture back and accuracy of my second shot is not very good. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks, John

Thanks guys. Thats kind of the way im leaning Paladin. I like the look of the CZC competition rear sights, but I read on another post that the dawson precision front FO post was much better than the CZC one. Ill have to go find that post again and figure out what height I need. Does the CZC rear competition sight work with the Cajun gun works race hammer? It looks like that rear sight hangs off the back a little.

Looking to purchase some new sites for my SP-01 decocker. I know I want a fiber optic front but looking for recomendations for the rear. Are adjustables worth the extra $ or should I just stick with fixed and whats a good brand? I plan on using this gun for USPSA production

I built one a couple months ago really easy if you have a welder got the steel plates from a guy on ebay pretty cheap the whole set up cost me less than $75

I found a few pieces of brass that I had picked up at the actual range the other day that were stamped S&B 9mm Br.c thet kept popping out of my shellplate when i was trying to put a primer in them. I googled it and turns out 9mm Br.C is european for 9mm short which is .380 WTF!

Only been used twice. Not sure what my PF is I dont have a chrono yet but im using lyman data where max is 2.8gr TG at 1.058 I believe and its a very light shooting load and I didnt notice any heavier feeling shots when I was shooting. Got me a little worried though so I went back and inspected my brass again

Found this when I was putting my brass I shot yesterday in the tumbler. I dont see any other overpressure signs. Does it look like pressure to you guys or just a bad piece of brass that I missed on my pre use checks? I was shooting 147gr bayou coated over 2.7gr TG OAL 1.140

Hey guys I just installed a CGW race hammer on my SP-01 tactical and also put in a 11lb recoil spring and a 11.5lb hammer spring. I am super impressed with the way the trigger breaks in SA. Ive read quite a bit on this forum and hear people talking about how crisp and clean their triggers are and never really understood what they were talking about till now, im very happy with the new set up and cant wait to get it to the range. The one thing Im wondering about though is the take-up or slack in the trigger when pulling SA there was always a lot of slack in it but now it seems like their is even more since installing the new hammer and the trigger seems farther back in the trigger guard when it actually breaks. Is this normal?

I took a look at it this morning and there is an adjustment on it. I just never saw it before because it is an extremely small hex head screw

I didnt pay attention to wether or not it was always the same round but next time I definately will. As far as co witnessing the laser to my sights like I said im not sure if thats possible because i dont think there is any adjustment on it but if I hold the laser on my POA the same everytime it shouldnt matter as long as the laser doesnt move. At least thats my theory on it it seems to me as long as my POI is consistent than POI should be as well and where the POI is doesnt really matter to me as I dont plan on actually using a laser sight for any other situation
