Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I too run Limited/TacIrons and have the same issue. Hitting the target isn’t the problem, it’s seeing it in the first place. I have noticed this however, when my game is on and the lighting is right a red dot can be faster if you have both close and long range arrays since you don’t have to fool with the optic. As always, it going to depend on the matches you’ll shoot. Will you have a lot of long range, or mostly burners? (PS. I am moving to TacOps this year, so my opinion may change) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Thanks guys. I found the solution. Apparently some idiot (me) installed the matchsaver backwards. Reversed it and ran a match successfully Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Yes it is, and no I do not. I've never seen it actually fall out, but each time I've needed it the shell isn't there Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I've only had 2 matches with a matchsaverz on my M3K, but it has yet to retain a shell for the entire stage; does anyone have any suggestions to fix the issue? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I have a standard weight RCA whose gas key has a tendency to loosen up after a few hundred rounds. YMMV Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. https://www.facebook.com/12369...eos/238147186661895/ As a high school football coach, I am used to using video to critique a performance to find flaws missed connections and other learning areas in a performance. So I figured I might as well do the same with my shooting, one stage at a time. I figure I might as well go stage by stage from my last match and see what you guys have to say about any areas that I missed. Starting off with stage IV, my first stage of the day here are my own personal critiques. I liked the use of my foot to open the door and I think it allowed me to get the gun up slightly quicker, but I should've taking immediate use of the ledge of the window to create a more stable position instead of shooting freehand, which cost me a couple of rushed make up shots. Once kneeling the 200 yard shot was not too bad, but it is extremely obvious that I need to spend more time at longer range targets as I burn through a lot of time and ammo for a single target, however after I ran dry I felt like my Mag change from bolt lock was sufficient. Finally hitting the elusive 300 yard steel, I feel good about my transition to the shotgun, minus the single makeup shot on #2. Quadload went well, as did the spinner, but lack of concentration cost about 2 seconds on the low steel. My slug transition is terrible, as I planned to use the matchsaver for it, but when the time came it was nowhere to be found. I then keep digging by trying to reload cross body with the slugs oriented in the other direction, tube load instead of port load, and forget to chamber the new shell, only to miss the shot and proceed to make the same mistake again. Transition to pistol was slowed by a poor first grip, and i will accept the two make up shots on the 90 yard steel with the pistol, but the target transition coming off of it was real slow, even after they called hit. I should have either moved more quickly or taken the opportunity to do a speed reload while moving to the car bumper. I threw away a few shots on steel at the end, and must really work on moving my thumb off the slide release. Overall the performance in this stage was enough for a narrow stage win in the (very small) Limited division, but i think I left over a minute on the clock, mostly on the 300 yard target and poor reload management. What do you guys see that needs fixing?
  7. So after my last match I noticed a pretty blatant deficiency in my off hand shooting. I was able to hit a IPSC steel target at 500 in 1 round but took 24 to clean a rifle rack at 50 yards. I've searched online and through the search button but haven't found a dry fire program dedicated to working on free hand. Thus far my dry fire has been mostly holding on a light switch and whatnot. What has worked for y'all?
  8. So next weekend is my first 3 Gun match of the year and will also be my first one not at my home range. The posting says a rifle sling will be required for the stage, and as stated I've never shot a match with one before. I have both a Magpul M3 sling and a Troy 2 point at the house and was looking for opinions and advice. I normally will run the Magpul in single point configuration, but all my previous sling experience is with the rifle as the primary weapon, which might not be the case here. Could run the Magpul sling in a two point conversion as well, as I have a attachment point just forward of the magazine bolted onto the rail. In yalls experience is a sling match more focused on a means to carry the rifle or two sling up on a longer shot?
  9. At my local competitions I was the only one using a pump gun and the only one without a magnified optic. Well, I recently joined the rest of the 3 Gun world by upgrading from my Home Defense 870 to a Stoeger M3K, and am now looking to decide on my next project. I do not want to change anything on my general purpose AR, so I'm looking into building or buying a dedicated 3 Gun AR. I've handled but not shot the DDM4V11 Pro and wanted to see if y'all had any thoughts on it. I looked through the search feature but couldn't find anything. I'm also considering just purchasing the upper and building the lower, but the cost will essentially be the same either way. Planning on topping it with a Vortex 1-6x
  10. I don't recall the price, but I love my Harris with a Larue QD cantilevered mount (aforementioned by Big Bets) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I've not had an issue running lights on my guns, but I've only shot local outlaw matches; so that probably doesn't mean much Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. The Jones Tactical one is ok Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Well we probably have shot together then! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I do. My dad was a member there when I was growing up and I've been a member for maybe two years now since moving back Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
