  1. Yeah I am. It’s a light haze. You don’t really notice it too much until you really look at it after a match.
  2. I get a little smoke on mine but nothing crazy. Part of it is my configuration. I’m shooting a shorty that has a popple in 9major. Powder is aa7. I do wish it had a blast shield though. Maybe I’ll make one....
  3. I’ve done it shooting 9 minor through a glock. Just needed something that would run it consistently without a lot of tuning. Not sure what you are using it in but I will have to say that in my experience, tg was cleaner. Not exactly an apple to apple comparison but my tg load (limited pistol) was about 3.1 with a 147. autocomp (open glock) 5 with a 124.
  4. Agreed with everyone. Repeatability is key. The consistency there allows you to develop the rhythm to go fast.
  5. I was thinking that lead flavored toast is the next big thing after Nutella! Am I alone on this?? Haha I haven’t had to do it yet but I believe there is a good following of using 50/50 hydrogen peroxide and vinegar. Supposed to dissolve it pretty well. Then you pick out the rest that should be pretty loose. This is stuff that I’ve read on the forums so I can’t actually vouch for it. I also know of guys who spray Dillon case lube ito the comp between courses as some preventative Maintenance.
  6. I had issues with dropping the mags freely when using ets. It seems to be hit or miss with that. Some people I have talked to have zero issues. Out of the guys that I know personally, we have not great luck with that on the ets. I have not had any feed issues with them so that is a plus. Great if I didn’t have to reload. My magpuls have been flawless for me since day one.
  7. I agree on the titegroup loadout! It was definitely my favorite load in 9mm. It’s been a while since I’ve run mine but I think I ran mine at 13lbs but I was using a glock 22 conversion to 9. Good luck and happy shooting.
  8. It helped a lot when I was shooting 9 minor. Loaded swc. I was not as proficient at calling shots. Especially when shooting at my indoor range. Lighting was not as great in certain areas so holes were harder to see sometimes. Having the cleaner hole punch was nice. It helped it stand out.
  9. +1 on the cleaner holes! Easier to see holes in the target
  10. Unfortunately I don’t have one of those to try. Tempted to pick one up just to know...unless some one can chime in on it.
  11. Hummm.... not sure. I haven’t shot my glock in a while but I’ll check them in the gauge and let you guys know. I always shot the glock in local matches and never gauged them. Just got home and gauged them. Wow. They fail horribly. Glad I never went to a major match with them.
  12. Have you used a thumb rest before? The first one I had on my glock was the pin style. At first I mainly used it as indexing for the support hand. After while shooting with it. I found that I was starting to use it more and more for recoil management. I actually broke one of the pin style. I’ve since switched to a 2011 and really use the thumb rest for recoil management. I’d still recommend doing an inspection on everything periodically for sanity.
  13. Hehe. Possibly. It was a long day of work followed by a late night trip to Walmart for a dremel and they didn’t have a lot of options on sanding bits. And an event the next day. Some could have got mixed in at some point. It was like @jerkeejoe it would have been a lot easier if I had one picture to go off of. I couldn’t find anything either.
  14. if you do it yourself I’m sure you can do it a lot better than I did. Just take your time and buy some various sanding bits for a dremel. I was very limited and in a time crunch. Take a little out at a time and check the fitment of the eye.
  15. That should be good. Let us know how it goes.
  16. Yeah. I’ll take a picture of it tonight when I get home. It’s not very pretty. I did it late one night. And I had a competition the next day...
  17. I would have the same concern that you have. I haven’t used their thumb rest but I would worry about the frame flex as well. Drilling into the gram was the easy part. I did it to install their micro dot mount. I believe it’s he same hole size and screw in both appplications. The painful part was inletting enough material to fit the eye. This is what the screw threads into. I just went slowly with a dremel until the eye was into the frame enough to clear the guide rod. I have a gen 3 frame. My buddy said his experience was a lot easier than mine but I do think he said that you have to convert to a gen 3 guide rod for it. At least that’s what I think he said.
  18. I haven’t used any of them but if you went with cheely I would have it set back. My thoughts is since you have a shorter pistol keep it as far away from the compensator for any blast. Also having the sight a closer to you makes the glass seem even bigger. When I first found myself doing the dot dance I would bring the pistol in a little closer to me to find the dot quickly then drive back to a normal shooting position.
  19. Not sure if you changed your thumb rest but here is some stuff to think about with pictures. Page 2 has more images.
  20. Speaking of S&B were on sale the other day at Cabela’s. 19.99 a box in case anyone needed some. All flavors on sale
  21. I believe what steelix is referring to is the marking at the bottom of the brass. Most of us reload and use once fired brass so it comes from everywhere. Since you’re using factory ammo I don’t think that’s the case unless you are loading a couple from each brand/box and then shooting. Then you would need to track which one is failing. Your latest post only mentioned 115’s. Is that all you are shooting now? I ask since earlier you said the heavier bullets cycled better. Does the 115 that you are shooting allow the slide to fully lock back consistently? If it doesn’t maybe the issue is the slide short stroking and not allowing the brass to properly eject. 7lb spring should be enough but maybe there is something a little tighter that needs to be broken in on your pistol. You wouldn’t happen to be in the Dallas area would you? I’ve got some springs that I keep around for tuning purpose that I would loan you if you are. That way you wouldn’t have to wait for shipping or order more.
  22. Interesting. I haven’t had to do it but I hear one of the options is to look up tuning the ejector. You can change it a little to get it to eject more reliably. One of the things people do when running a cmore. As others have stated you can also change to the 90 degree mount for the cmore. The ejected brass could possibly be hitting the cmore and causing the stovepipe. Those are the cheaper options. You could also change to a micro dot mount but that means you have to buy a microdot.
  23. For oem mags i used TTI. For magpul mags last i checked there were only zev basepads. No issues with either.
  24. Msg73 pretty much summed up what i was talking about. It is kind of a testament about how efficient your load is in your configuration. It doesnt always translate into the best feel from person to person but i find that it does help in developing a load. I knew it looked cold where you were shooting but dang -5. Thats pretty cold. Be aware of which powders you use as some are temp sensitive. Some like silhouette are reverse temp sensitive. Ive seen a ~15 degree drop increase my speeds ~35 fps
  25. Welcome to the darkside! Open has been an eye opener for me and allowed me to learn so much about the way i shoot. Dryfiring an open pistol made it signficantly eaiser to observe my trigger control. Good to hear that you reload as well. You will quickly find that it is all a matter of preference when it comes to your load out. As some have mentioned loads vary in different pistols. What others prefer may not line up with yours and vice versa. As for your recoil video it does not look to bad. You can definitely improve it. As some have suggested it does look like you can go downa bit. Also looks like you have some extra margin in pf. I would try .2-.3 grn less powder. A couple of shots in the video look like there is quite a bit of gas coming out of the front of the comp. Ideally they should be coming out of the top and sides. Just something to think about. Dont forget to focus on your grip as well as mentioned above. I had the benefit of picking up a used open pistol from my brother when i got into this division. Watching his videos the pistol shot much flatter in his hands with the same load out. This exposed the weakness in my grip. Are hou a fan of the thumb rest that cones on the dvc open? I shot the dvc steel and i think it is the same ledge. I much prefer the go gun. That too helped me control the pistol a lot better. Happy shooting!
