Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I would like to load some 9mm loads for my wife with light recoil. What would be a minimum charge of titegroup using 115 gr lrn bullets that would be light enough for her and still have enough to eject and reload? How about for 147gr bullets? Thanks
  2. Summers Enterprises offers two different diameter 9mm bullets, .356 and .357. I have used the .356 in the past and am fixing to place another order. Just confused as to why there are two different sizes? Looking to get the 125gr hi-tek. How can i tell which diameter is better for my pistol? Thanks
  3. Has anyone tried wet tumbling with steel bb’s? Thanks

  5. Yes, i am using uncoated lead from Summers Enterprises. They also make bullets with Hi-tek coating. Ill try them next.
  6. I am getting a lot of smoke when I fire. I am using 9mm 145gr LRN with 3gr of Titegroup. Is it the powder, the lead or a combination the makes it smoke? Is there maybe a different combination that wouldn't smoke as much? Never noticed smoke like that with factory loads. I am just shooting target and getting about 900fps. Thanks

  8. As mentioned before, I just yesterday got my Shield back from S&W and haven't shot these loads in that gun yet. Maybe this week I will find out how they shoot in the Shield. These loads chronographed at just a few fps over 900 average in the SD9VE. I'm not concerned about pf as I am not competing. I just want it to be a safe load. Also, If I went to a 147 coated or jacketed projectile, would that affect the powder charge significantly? I just chose the Summers Enterprises bullets because they were economical for my first loads. I am open to recommendations for a good general range load and projectiles for me and my wife to enjoy. Glad she loves to shoot and I want to keep it enjoyable for her. Thanks for the feedback.
  9. Thanks for the replies. I am just starting to hand load 9mm. I have loaded thousands of shot shells over the years when I was a lot younger, but never centerfire and am beginning to learn more about it. I am loading 145gr lead round nose from Summers Enterprises, using 3 gr of Titegroup. They seem to shoot well and not much recoil (might be able to go a little lighter?). Getting about 900fps with that load. I may be experimenting with other loads and projectiles in the future. Not competing, just want a load for target shooting that is economical, safe and comfortable for me and my wife to shoot. We are both seniors. The local range has steel shooting and bowling pin shoots that I might be interested in at another time. Shooting a S&W SD9VE and a S&W Shield, both in 9mm. Just got the Shield back from S&W for a warranty issue. Thanks for the info.
  10. I have seen the terms major and minor loads and don't understand. I am assuming it has something to do with competitions? Just getting started hand loading and am learning a lot. Thanks.
