Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I have 5-6,000 rounds of PMC on hand at all times. That stuff is 110% reliable and accurate as you need out to 200+ yards.
  2. Sold my heavy metal pistol so I'll never have to waste time worrying about shooting anything other then Tac Ops again. Now I just need to sell a supernova, Vepr12 and an Xrail!
  3. I always rack my rounds through the chamber. It smooths out the action of the gun.
  4. The only two secrets I've learned is to do it a lot and know the accepted level of sight wobble. The other technique is the one where rather then try to hold stil which is impossible you actually move the gun in a pattern and break the shot at the sight approaches or enters the acceptable sight picture. I.e. You move your gun/sights left to right and slowly apply trigger pressure so that the trigger breaks exactly when the sight is on the leading edge of the target.
  5. The biggest thing beginners don't know is where their rifle bullets are arcing at every distance. Shoot as many rounds of the long stuff as you can to really understand how the ballistics work and where you'll need to hold and how steady you need to be to break a perfect shot on the first shot.
  6. Inside 25 you can double tap and move on but I'm still watching the sights to see that the second shot was on the paper. At 50 you can get away with a rapid pair and still get two on paper but the second shot can be hard to say for certain unless you started with your sights perfectly dead center. So a little slower controlled pair is necessary.
  7. If there is not a lot of hosing I'll turn mine off too.
  8. All my JP barrels and hell every barrel I've ever owned loves black hills 69gr SMK ammo. I've used their Remam stuff for 6 years without ever having an issue. That stuff consistently shoots tighter groups that any of the different factory Hornady bullet/loads I've tried.
  9. I get out at sunrise when it's completely calm and zero the 300 yard BDC mark at 300. Then I shoot the 100/200/400/500 yard mark to see where they are hitting with my load and compare it to the data from my balistic software and make notes. If the Match only has 50, 100, or even 200 yard long range shots I'll zero to those distances to eliminate the need for hold over/unders. The reason I like to zero at 300 is I've had a nice 1-2" group at 100 or 2-3" group at 200 start to move 3-5" off center as I stretched it out to 500-600. Heck if I had the distance I'd prolly zero at 400 or 500 because if you're dead nuts at 400-600 the closer stuff is going to be deader nuts!
  10. When shooting for accuracy shooting I pin the trigger after the shot breaks. Releasing it only after the Sights settle and I'm lining up the next shot. For utmost speed I trying move my finger as little as possible. For the average speed shots in 3-gun/USPSA with .20-.30 splits it really doesn't matter if your finger leaves the trigger completely as the sights are still moving by the time you're back on it ready to break another shot.
  11. Some guys have a fast trigger finger some guys don't. I haven't found a training technique to get my splits consistently below .15. Fortunately for me Splits don't win 3-gun matches. Unfortunately for me splits do get the ladies.
  12. Lighter feels faster but heavier is faster. Unless your shooting the rifle like a pistol at close ranges
  13. Just make sure you never ever ever put a carry gun in that air travel backpack. It's easy to forget it and then you end up with a hairy situation at the airport. I learned the hard way.
  14. Get a patriot case from Brack Wilson. https://youtu.be/kJZ7ErpAodg
