  1. I’m using Hodgdon’s online data
  2. I’ve only loaded 9mm using Xtreme 115gr plated bullets, using the load tables for LRN. I’ve read that FMJ require a little more powder. I haven’t been able to find load data for a 115gr FMJ bullet, which I purchased recently. Can someone point me in the right direction. Thanks
  3. Thanks guys for all the helpful posts. Glad to see that this is a common problem with known solutions. So, this morning I removed the powder funnel. It was pretty rough with vertical grooves. I chucked it in the drill press and set it for 250 rpm’s. I used a 400 grit Emory cloth and sanded for about 3 minutes. I took the funnel out and inspected it, but it needed more sanding. The second session did the trick...pretty smooth. I then used some brass polish to shine it up. After reinstalling on the 650XL, it ran smoothly with no hang ups. I imagine I will have to do this periodically. By the way, I have reloaded about 6,000 rounds of .40 S&W so far. I’ve not encountered this with 9mm. I was a rookie when I purchased the 650XL in 2015. My only help was the many YouTube videos and this forum, which I love. Thanks again for the help.
  4. I have a Dillon 650XL, and I’m having a problem that I cannot solve. As I bring the ram down from the dies, the powder funnel is “hanging” on the inside of the brass after the powder drop. Most times it’s a minor hang, but sometimes it requires extra force to pull the brass from the grasp of the powder funnel. i cannot see any visual reason for the hang up on the brass casing. Everything seems to be aligned ok. There are no problems seating a primer or with any of the other dies. I can watch the powder funnel release from the brass as I bring the ram down. I am reloading .40 S&W and I am not using case lube. I did try some lube and that helped some but did not solve the problem. Appreciate any ideas that could help solve this. Thanks.
  5. Footnote at the bottom of my RMR bullet order... *PLEASE PLEASE NOTE* We are sad to announce that, after several years of R&D, our attempts at a successful BMPDS (Ballistic Missile Parcel Delivery System) have failed. Several municipalities complained that spent missile tubes landing in random locations were unsightly. Portland Oregon claimed that the practice wasn't green, although we were able to land the majority of the spent tubes tested there within a two-block radius of a tax-payer subsidized recycling center. We had hoped that local artists would appreciate the convenient delivery of sculpture art-material so proximate to their cardboard domiciles, but they failed to find imaginative uses for missile tubes without plagiarizing artisans from eastern Europe NOTE* We are sad to announce that, after several years of R&D, our attempts at a successful BMPDS (Ballistic Missile Parcel Delivery System) have failed. 6. Thanks for all the great replies. I liked what I saw on RMR. My orders for 4000 9mm are in...they say their orders have doubled from the same weekend last year. Hopefully I’ve found a new go-to supplier.
  7. Luckily I have not pulled the trigger. Here’s hoping that Cyber Monday is better than BF.
  8. Xtreme consistently has offered 20% off on BF. Last year was the first with no free shipping. Now, this year it’s only 10% off, and no free shipping. Looks like new ownership is not going to be kind to reloaders. Only 10% off on BF is not good enough for me. I chose not to buy from them.
  9. I know next to nothing about dg bullets, and can’t seem to find much info. Where is the company located and how long have they been in business?
  10. Anyone found any super deals on primers, copper-plated bullets, and powder?
  11. This is an old thread, but I wanted to update on my progress. In retrospect, I had a lot of issues in the beginning since I had only the help of these forums and Utube. i have climbed the learning curve and now consider myself a competent reloader, having completed over 11,000 rounds to date. I’ve reloaded both .45ACP and 9mm. After getting some of the bugs worked out, I’ve chugged right along. I feel confidant in fixing issues with the 650XL as they occur. Dillon has sent me several replacements for broken parts. Their service is stellar. i want to thank everyone that has helped and given encouragement...you can start out on a 650XL as your first press. If I can do it, so can you.
  12. I realize that load data is not published for every bullet made, and I also realize that, for plated bullets, generally you can use the equivalent lead bullet data. Hodgdon publishes only one load for a 124gr lead bullet, using WSF. I have Titegroup and HP-38, and I would like to avoid buying another powder. Can I use the load data for a BERB HBRN TP 124 gr? Hodgdon publishes load data for that bullet with Titegroup. How is that bullet different from the Xtreme 124gr? Thanks for all the replies so far.
  13. I'm relatively new at this, having loaded about 6,000 rounds so far on my 650. I have some Xtreme 124 gr RN and can't find load data from Hodgdon. Except for one load of 124 gr lead RN, all the data is for BERB 124 gr HPCB TP. I know what bullet that is, but my question for the experts--why nothing for Xtreme? Any assistance or methodology for research would be appreciated.
  14. I'm new to reloading, and with blind luck, my first "score" was 10 lbs. of HP38. I guess I'm pretty lucky now that I look back.
  15. Just read this on another forum... "Winchester 231 certainly has been hard to get. The plant that makes Winchester powders does not want to make 231 as well as a few other powders. These older technology powders have different chemistry than the new powders and this older chemistry makes it much slower to make powder: basically, you can make about 2.5 times as many pounds of new chemistry powder in the time it takes to make 1 pound of old chemistry powder. During the process of making the old powders, the waste stream created is huge compared to the waste stream of the new chemistry powders. Chemical waste is very expensive to get rid of. So, the plant wants to phase out the old chemistry powders and replace them with new chemistry powders. While they are still making 231, the amount is being reduced and the amount of new powder such as Titegroup and Longshot is being increased. Now, we are kind of stuck in the middle. The market is demanding 231 but the maker is not wanting to produce the powder. The result is, over time, 231 is going to go away. Shooters should begin using other powders as they can. 16. Well, I got it all set up for .45acp. I loaded about 80 rounds. Had powder everywhere with about three rounds with no primer, three round with the primer not fully seated, and about four rounds that don't fit in the case gage. Got the OAL at 1.200 and didn't have much problem getting the bullet seat and crimp dies set. Using 230gr RN Any suggestions in the primers...can I just reinsert in the shell plate and reseat (after removing all new primers of course)? What about the ones that don't fit the gage?
  17. The top is cabinet-grade maple plywood with three coats of poly.
  18. The bench and cabinet are complete (except for door pulls) so tomorrow I mount the press.
  19. Santa Claus came yesterday (wearing a FedEx uniform).
  20. The TG didn't last long. I snoozed!
  21. I ordered the case feeder with both large and small pistol plates.
  22. The bench is complete. I built it from plans provided by the National Reloading Manufactuer's Assn (NRMA). I've just about completed the cabinet that goes on top. This thing is rock-solid, and I don't think I will have to attach to the wall. I can determine that after I get the press. Maybe I'll post a picture if I can figure that out.
  23. The tracking log file already is pretty full with some good scores from PV, Selway, Sinclair, and Cabela's among others. All the goodies are laid in awaiting the Blue package.
  24. This is the day I've been planning for over a year. I've been absorbing everything reloading during this time. About 20 years ago, I helped a friend with his MEC and that planted the seed. He was a big skeet and trap shooter, but now reloads three pistol calibers too. I have a close friend that I shoot with a lot who owns an older Dillon, so now I'm all in. I know I have tons to learn, and will be asking a lot of questions of the very knowledgable board members. My order for a 650XL went into Brian yesterday for .45ACP, with alternate setup for 9mm and .40S&W. I will graduate to 5.56mm later. The bench is built, and the last coat of poly went on the bench cabinet today. So now, it's sit here and "watch the paint dry" while Brian and Dillon do their thing.
