Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Got this email from Winchester: Thank you very much for taking the time to contact us here at Winchester Ammunition. We are always glad to hear from our many friends and customers who share in the shooting sport. Winchester Ammunition, like other ammunition manufacturers, has seen the demand for our products increas significantly since last fall. To meet that increased demand, our operations are running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our team is literally working around the clock to make quality ammunition products available for purchase. We remain absolutely committed to meeting the growing needs of our customers and we are doing everything we can to do so. Thank you again for contacting us here at Winchester Ammunition. If you should require additional information, do not hesitate to contact us. Sincerely, Winchester Technical Department
  2. Who was it that said "most IPSC shooters will spend $500 on gear that looks cool, but won't spend a dime to improve their shooting."?
  3. I'm sure that there will be plenty of primers for sale tommorrow in the classifieds. Just like vibraprimes were last April. That's what I hate, high demand items available only one day a year.
  4. I had been considering LASIK for years. 20/40 uncorrected for decades. I was always able to get 20/15 with glasses. I hated contacts. Last doctor visit said the B work, bifocals. And he wanted over $800 for the visit and new glasses. My livelihood requires perfect vision, so this isn't something that I took lightly. After months of research, I picked a local doc that has been doing it for over 15 years. The machine used is one big factor too. SA Friday drove me to the surgery yesterday afternoon (lunch was on me). In the chair for about 20-25 minutes, I probably should have accepted the valium, but declined based on ego. I got cleared to leave an hour later, and only had to wait for the men in white coats to clear SA. I could tell that the ability to see had improved within 30 minutes, soreness, swelling, haze was still bad though. I woke up this AM and could easily see 20/20. First post op exam was at 0730. They measured me at 20/15 with both eyes 16 hours after the surgery. Still a little sore, and as far as I can tell, the sharpness of vision keeps improving thru the day. I'm not eligible for monovision due to job requirements, so reading glasses will be in my future. In today's economic times, the doctors will work with you on price. A friend got $400 off for agreeing to a test on vitamin E. When I asked about it, they said that the study was over, but that they would knock $800 off. All they can say is no, so ask. I think that I'll spend the $800 on reloading supplies.
  5. I had the same problem. Plugged in the extra battery pack (AAA batteries) that a buddy had with him. It was able to give it enough so that the plug worked again. It works like a charm now. I bought a battery pack in case it ever happens again. That was 1 1/2 years ago, and it hasn't happened since.
  6. Try this thread. Varget and Dillon As you scroll down to Tom Freeman's post, stop, and absorb from the matser himself. Pics and everything.
  7. Buggered up my first one because the red locktite setup too quick. As small as those screws are, use blue.
  8. Our club has changed to StageScore for our matches. A couple of lessons learned in the process: Implementing StageScore with another club in the area really helped. Our sister club, in Pueblo, and ourselves went in together on this commitment. We got 5 or 6 from each club to give up a Saturday morning to really learn the process. A mock match after works well. Pueblo ran the program last week, we ran it this week. We both bought the same hardware hoping for compatibility for future large matches or a quick backup if one craps out. Initial reaction has been overwhelmingly positive. Scores are posted before people have even stopped bs’ing about their performance. When putting stages in the palms, always say yes to no shoots. That way if you throw in a no shoot afterwards, you are covered. We are still trying to figure out the best way to handle reshoots. (1st of all, don’t grant them) Second guns on classifiers have gone on paper so far. Beaming to a mock master palm more often during the match would give me more peace of mind, but is probably wasted energy. Multiple strings on a COF are no big deal, just need to put those in to increase familiarity. Doing is learning, put the palm in someone’s hands, don’t just let them watch you. Some people just won’t ever want to score with it, do to vision, fear of technology, etc. No big deal, just hand it off to the next guy instead. I put together a scoring nightmare of a stage, just as a tutorial on how to use it before the match. Procedurals, missed steel, no shoots, we didn’t even use it as such. We just jumped right in to the match. 10 minutes, match scored. We will never go back.
  9. Thanks. I figure we are all here to learn and get better. At shooting, RO'ing, and running matches. If I can learn from my mistakes, maybe others can too.
  10. Just received an email from John. He agrees that I should not have given a reshoot. However, he did not revoke my CRO or place me on probation. So I got that going for me. Thanks for all of the input. My biggest lesson in all of this: put a time limit on how long the shooter can make his/her case. In the future I'm going to cut it off at 5 minutes, then, go talk to the RO and witnesses.
  11. Yep, read that one too. But my rule book is blue.
  12. At what point are we being too equitable?? I wouldn't give a reshoot based on weather, winds, etc. "But the sun was in my eyes"
  13. Shooter A's reshoot based on steel that was not set. Backgroung for where the holes came from. Search complete for current edition. No results applicable.
