Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. No problem using your reloads I shoot them in several glocks my 34 and 35. Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk
  2. Thanks for the replies and I am one that took this sport up at older age of 63 and now at 65 shoot limited and learning there. Since beginning at this age figured no since in waiting to give open a try as I am never going to be a top shooter in either one. I enjoy shooting limited but I am sure will enjoy dabbling in open. Loading for both will take enough time that I don't really want to play looking for the exact load but one that will work. Thanks
  3. I am new to open guns and have a couple loads that using WAC chrono 171,070 and another 173,972. I have been doing a lot of reading on loads for 9mm open guns and hear this load and that load for that person is working the comp the best. I have never read how one knows a load is best for working the comp. So how do you know your load is working the comp to its fullest? Thanks
  4. Thanks I have been all over the more and less bell. I increased a little and seems to be pretty close now. I will try it more tomorrow. Thanks formally from Xenia, Oh
  5. I am having problems loading the 180's coated in 401 dia. I am guessing my bell is not correct but I have tried from knowing too much to too little and still have issues seating the bullets. Looks if I get close still scrap plating off and many times have problem case gauging but if I get first issue solved second probably will get solved. Loading on 550B only die not Dillon is the seating die is a Redding Professional. Including a picture of maybe where to go from. Also thought I would mention if I measure the bell at top of case it is .427 if this might help not sure if I measure that what it should be close to. Thanks for any input!
  6. You did not mention if you are classified now but my suggestion is if you are not classified yet just take your time. This should prevent hitting no shoots you hope. So slow and make your shots and get classified first. You want to get classified first then you can grip and rip more after that you have a classification. Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk
  7. I was also looking Caspian as can find much more reasonable and just didn't really want to put a lot of money out at my age. If I find this is great and decide then could possible upgrade but if Caspian doing fine save my money or I decide open is not for me I still have a gun that I don't have a lot of money in can still play every now and then..
  8. By the way forgot to mention would buy used.
  9. The question I have thinking of maybe making a Caspian Open Gun my first open gun. I am a super senior and haven't been even shooting USPSA that long but would like to give open a try. At my age not sure the gun is going to make all that much difference and don't expert to be competing at a top level and I can find Caspians at a much more affordable price to give a try. Any reason this would be a bad idea?
  10. Thank you very much for the info and right now I have some made up to chrono with 2.8gr and OAL 1.145 to 1.165. I will also chrono some at 3.0 and these should give me a pretty good place to know where need to go to next. I will also test these with my 5.25" XDM and will give a report when I have time to get to the range.
  11. The load data is calling for OAL of 1.058 and my guns I am running 1.160 so isn't there a little safe room to work from max of 2.8grs with their 1.058 OAL and miy OAL of 1.160? I do realize would work small increments no matter what.
  12. I am working on some new loads using 9mm 147gr lead and using Titegroup. It is going well and right now loading for a Sig 226 and it likes longer OAL 1.160 to 1.165. Using Lyman 49th as a starting point the last load I chronographed was 2.7gr @ 1.160 Oal (827 PF) and shoots well but is under power factor trying to obtain 125,000. The load data in Lyman is 2.5grs to max 2.8grs and this is at OAL 1.058 which for my guns is really short. I am going to give 2.8grs a try but at 1.160 oal I don't think it will still make PF. So my question after all this is since the load data is 2.5 to 2.8 oal 1.058 I should be able to bump the max load a little using 1.160 I would think but wonder what or maybe how a max load for 1.160 is figured if possible to up max safely. Thank You
  13. I searched didn't find what I needed and hope I didn't just overlook it. I have the CED 7000 and I am not doing well with the instructions I guess maybe this might be over my head or just missing something. What I would like to do is set this up so I can start it to time holster draw and first shot. I would think I could just start it and then when shot is fired it will show the time but I guess I am missing how this is down. I am hoping when I understand this it will also allow me to understand much more about the 7000. Thanks Dennis
  14. First I would like to thank you all for help with some starting points to safely work a load for Montana Gold 124 and 147gr using VV n320. I did work up some loads and did get some numbers from the chronograph this evening that I thought I would share. The MG 124gr RN I started at 3.8 and worked up to 4.2 and the OAL used was 1.155 should mentioned using a Sig 226 and looking to make 125000 safely for IDPA for my wife. 124gr AOL 1.155 on all 3.8 900 - 978 1004 4.0 1006 - 1023 - 1034 4.2 1038 - 1059 - 1047 So looking to get 1008 to get to 125,000 looks like could possible use 4.0 and for sure 4.2 for the 124gr bullets. Averaging the 4.2 speeds would get 129,952. 147gr 3.2 OAL 1.158 846 - 820 - 811 3.4 OAL 1.155 844 - 839 - 838 3.6 OAL 1.158 872 - 872 - 884 This is the weight I will use for my wife and if I use MG 147 looks like 3.6 should work pretty good with low number giving 128,184. I am also going to work with some Extreme bullets on 147gr so this will be the next load will work on and see how they do with same powder n320. Thanks again for helping with some starting points. Trident you came in almost right on what I could use. Den
  15. I am working up a load for Montana Gold 124gr CMP and also 147gr CMP and I will be using vv n320 to begin with. Since have to get load info for this powder mostly from their website when I am looking there for MG CMJ would it be best to start with the Rainier RN information for both 124 and 147. The show a span of 3.8 and 4.1 for low and high on 124 and show 3.5 to 3.8 for the 147. I can start with these lows but would I be better off maybe starting even just a bit lower? I also have some Extreme bullets coming in 124 and 147 and would I also be safe in using the same starting point to build from for these as the MG? I have searched and read probably as much as I can for vvn320 and find many loads that people are using but not a lot on what is a good starting point to build from. I am very new to reloading and just looking I would think I would probably want to start maybe 3.6 for 124 and maybe 3.3 for 147 for the MG's but then not sure for the Extremes but since I don't have much experience these are just conservative guesses and would think will still possible cycle in the gun then again maybe not. Sorry for the long post but a solid starting point that is good to start with for these bullets would be great. I will be working these loads for a couple guns but will figure the OAL for each barrel so will be on longest for each barrel. Guns are Sig 226 and a Sig M11 A1 thanks again.
