Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Still confused (us old ****'s get that way). In single stack, isn't the maximum count in the mag dictated by caliber (only 9/38super gets the +1)? If we're talking L10, and the stages are all spitting distance like El Presidente, I can see a slight advantage. As the distance increases, I see less benefit in being scored minor in return for a few extra rounds. But that may say more about my skill level then it does about the concept. ;-)
  2. We have 1 guy who shoots with us (out of the 60+ in our area who use the 2011 platform) who has his STI Edge setup this way. I have observed - it seems to work really well for him - I've also observed that in past 15+ years I've never seen him shoot anything but that particular STI in USPSA - I've shot his Edge in competition, index finger mag release doesn't seem to help me any. For me it's not better, just different.
  3. I'm curious. Why would you want to shoot .40 S&W minor in Single Stack division?
  4. Ambi on my STI Edge, a mix of ambi's and conventionals on the various 1911's I have/have had. I guess my vote would be "don't care" as I never saw a need to convert any of my conventionals to ambi......(and yes, I'm right hand dominant)
  5. Currently only one per month (Steel Challenge). For a number of years was doing eight matches per month - a mix of USPSA, Steel Challenge, Cowboy and IDPA. There are 10 matches per month available in my tri-city area; if I was willing to drive 60 miles per match (one way), I could add another 8 per month at a nearby city.
  6. I like shooting 10mm. A Glock 20 in Limited, Colt Delta Elite in Single Stack. I lucked into some good sources for 10mm brass early on. So mostly I've grumbled about the rise in cost of primers and bullets over the last two decades.....brass hasn't been an issue for me. Been shooting 180gr jacketed using Hogdon TiteGroup. Not sure I'm remembering the load correctly off the top of my head and my logbook is with my reloading gear elsewhere so I'm not going to put a number here.
  7. plug "dinh road rage murder seattle uspsa" into Google and an interesting mix of stuff comes up, including http://www.cbsnews.com/news/yancy-noll-murder-road-rage-turned-deadly-or-thrill-kill/ which is the 48 Hours episode.
  8. Been using Dropbox to move new versions of Practiscore onto the Nooks. Came across this article this morning. http://www.eweek.com/storage/slideshows/what-the-end-of-mailbox-carousel-means-for-dropboxs-storage-business.html?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=EWK_NL_EP_20151209_STR1L2&dni=290056578&rni=24337819
  9. John Wick 2 filming underway in Brooklyn http://screenrant.com/john-wick-2-filming-brooklyn/?utm_source=SR-FB-B&utm_medium=Facebook-Distribution&utm_campaign=SR-FB-B
  10. Doesn't your phone has Google Play Store or Amazon Appstore? Update app from there. Phone pulls from google play. Interesting thing is, I'm home now and looking at one of my nooks running ps 1.2.30 (201506071728) and it DOES have an 'Update App' bar at bottom of Sync screen. So this is a 1.2.30 nook-only feature?
  11. Which 1.2.30 build? I have 201506071828 build and it shows it. See attached. I have 1.2.30 on my phone; it DOES NOT show "UPDATE APP", but the postscript number on mine is 201506071728, which is LESS than yours. I'll have to check the NST's tonite; I'm at work and the nooks are sitting in a closet 20 miles away......
  12. I've been grabbing the latest .apk from practiscore.com, putting it in dropbox, then using the dropbox app root'n'scoreit installed to pull down onto the NST's. If there's a data microsd card in the nook slot, it prompts me to install the new .apk as soon as dropbox finishes delivering it.
  13. Good to know. My ancient Midway 1292 died 30 minutes into a session a week ago. I went down to Harbor Freight and picked up the 5# unit because I didn't like the online prices I was seeing for the various 'name' tumblers (plus shipping costs, and ordering hassle....).
  14. Started in 1979 with a Lee Loader (yeah, the little cylinder kit of tools that you whacked with a plastic or rubber mallet, to make ammo one round at a time) in .357 to feed a Ruger Blackhawk because in college I had more spare time than spare dollars.....things progressed predictably from there over the next 35 years......
  15. Models 300 and 350. There is a later model that is also called Glowlight which is NOT compatible with the NST Glowlight (BNVR350)
