Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Hey Guys, Well I started competition shooting IDPA and USPSA last year. I did what most people do and shot what I had and had fun with it. Eventually I got hooked and started this crazy cycle of buying and trading for gaming guns. I've been extremely lucky in that I've just about come even on every trade and swap and I loved learning the different manual of arms. My performance has improved and I've become one of the better shooters at my club through hard work and a ton of dry firing! My performance on each different pistol has been the same (Thanks to focusing on the fundamentals) but I'm at a point where I think I should stick with one or two pistol platforms and master them. Is this a common thing to happen when getting into shooting sports? I'm doing my best to stick to shooting what I currently have and I'm saving up for a custom built gun or a higher end one such as the CZ-Shadow, STI Eagle, Tanfoglio Limited Pro and just sticking to that....but man it's hard to keep the same gun when there are so many great options out there. Any positive feedback, relative experience, and advice would be great!
  2. It fits in the box, with no trimming or grinding. Praetorian97 had one for IDPA CDP and I also used the same gun in IDPA (the same exact gun, I bought it). The measurements that EAA lists for a lot of there stuff is not correct. If I were you I would be looking at a Limited Pro, Stock III, or a CZ-75 SP01 Shadow or regular Shadow. I own 4 Witnesses (Lim Pro x 2, Limited, and Match, just sold my Stock II) and an SP01 Shadow. I like the smaller grip on the CZ as I have short fingers and even with the Eric grips on the Witnesses, it is not small enough. Doable, but the CZ feels better in my hand. The trigger on my CZ is better than any of the rest I have. No stacking, breaks cleanly and evenly each time. Either way you can't go wrong with either or. It really comes down to parts and customer server. EAA Blows, hands down. CZ Custom shop is much much better. Both have some availability issues, but with EAA it seems they send us one small batch a year and then left overs and the odd unicorn here and there. Thanks azgoose, I was actually lurking at your tanfo posts! Is there a way to get springs for the limpro DA trigger? Grip isn't a factor to me, I just really like how the tanfo looks but I don't want it to turn into a headache in terms of parts or spending more to make it like a CZ shadow.
  3. Thanks Twinkie, would you prefer it over the CZ Shadow? I like the Tanfo, which is why I spent a ton of money on it. Bigger frame, longer sight radius, and I wanted a hard chrome gun. Honestly, the CZ has a much better trigger especially in DA. I wouldn't spend more than retail on either. Thanks Twinkie, I was looking at some reviews and the DA trigger on the Shadow is a lot better. It's difficult because I want a hardchromed gun and I love how the Limpro looks. Does Henning offer springs to lighten it up? If not or if finding parts to upgrade it will be as hard as finding the gun itself then I'll go for the Shadow. But dammit it feels like settling!
  4. Thanks Twinkie, would you prefer it over the CZ Shadow?
  5. I've also seen it fit the box because Tanfoglio's measurements are rounded up from the metric system
  6. Hi Guys I'm looking into getting a Tanfoglio/EAA for the following shooting games. The real issue is with IDPA, if I didn't play that then I'd totally get a Stock II or Stock III. I've been reading that the Limited Pro in 9mm would be an option that is IDPA legal. I prefer the pistol be DA/SA and for IDPA SSP and Production. What is the trigger pull weights DA/SA for the Limited Pro? I already have a SA pistol and other non Tanfo pistols I've been looking at are the CZ-75Shadow (Production/SSP) and the STI Eagle .40 with bushing (Limited/ESP). I'd rather keep it in the production division but if there is a Tanfo option that would be good for Limited and ESP better than a 2011 I'd bide. I prefer pistols that are all metal. Thanks!
