Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Put the base pad on without the spring and follower. Now look down the magazine tube from the top and you'll see the problem. Some of the earlier TTI pads did not line up correctly with certain Glock magazines. To fix mine I filed a decent amount on the internal rear of the pad where the follower transitions to the mag body. It's not really a spring issue in my opinion. Also, you'll might need to put a chamfer/bevel on the follower where ever it might catch on the transitional area from base pad to mag body. To keep from damaging the lower Glock base pad rails when removing the pad, pull the pad off about halfway then squeeze the mag body and pull it off. It will make it much easier.
  2. I run Xtreme 124 round nose, out of my S3 @ 1.15. All will pass plunk and turn, no problem. Tried other brands of coated bullets and they would engage WAY too early, and I don't like loading short.
  3. Lighter recoil spring and it will cycle slower....from my experience with my stock 3. Too light and reliability becomes a issue. Ammo is also another factor. I would go with a lighter bullet and at least a 130-135pf. Another issue is that I have had Wolff springs that were off spec when compared to one another; in brand new packaging. Go with a 11 or 12 lbs recoil and cut a coil if it feels too strong. My S3 probably has 5k rounds through it.
  4. This has been my experience as well.
  5. What I did to get my Dawson front sight to stop moving (it never fell off or out), was put a very small amount of red loctite in the dove tail and a bit on the set screw. I tried blue loctite and it did not hold.
  6. I have around 500-700 rounds through my Tripp Cobra 9mm 10 round mags in my Springfield RO. I have had no trouble with feeding, reliability, nose dives etc. The issue I have head early on is the next round to be dragging forward a bit and not letting the magazine drop free. I have narrowed it down typically to 3 or more rounds in the mag when the issue happens. If it happens with 2 or less rounds the mag will usually fall free. I have heard from other sources that the issue is worse at break-in of the mags, and starts to go away as the mags get broken in.
  7. How many rounds through the gun?
  8. Ok, I got the Grauffell grips in the mail a couple of days ago. The screw hole was a tad out of alignment on the EG grips so I relieved the hole a bit with a small jewelers file. Installed the grips, no issues. They are very slim to the frame. Definitely fit my hand better than the SSI grips. Now, if SSI would make a set of thin scales I would be game for those. I don't think the palm swell works for me; I have to rotate my hand ever so slightly to get a good command on the DA part of the trigger pull. Texture of the Grauffel grips is somewhat aggressive, but not overly.
  9. Stock III, Henning Gen 4 firing pin, 13lb hammer spring, Installed the firing pin, reduced power spring from the Wolff package. It appears the hammer is not fully home when in the rest position. I can physically move the hammer forward a millimeter or so into its rest position. Is this normal? I have not had a chance to go live fire and test yet.
  10. I purchased and installed a set of the SSI waffle grips on my Stock 3. Inital impressions are that they are well made. The grips create a solid gripping surface, these grips are thicker than stock on the bottom half. The only issue that I have realized is that they are a tad thick for my smallish length hands on the large frame Tanfo. Are the Graufel grips thinner than stock?
  11. Go with the 11 as mentioned above. 13 is ok, 11 runs flatter.
  12. Seemed to have figured it out. Or at least now have a better theory: I replaced all the mags with new mags. Installed the small non-extended factory 4th gen release. Practice with 300 rounds of live fire tonight. Did not drop one magazine. Here is what I think happened: When I started shooting limited I used extended releases and would drop a magazine occasionally from pressure on the release with my weak hand. Over time the catch on the magazines started to deteriorate to the point of not reliably retaining the magazine under the impact of firing or any pressure on the release. Basically I had reached the point where several of the mags would fall when they were at capacity under much tension. Also any errant pressure on the release would randomly let them fall out due to the damaged catches.
  13. Ok, I reviewed some of my disastrous match video from yesterday. One of the magazines did fall during a strong hand (right hand) string. Not sure how this could happen. I still can't physically pull the magazines out.
  14. I think that when I squeeze I put some pressure on the release. I installed a stock Gen 4 non-extended release on it tonight. Will probably go out and test it at the range this week and see if it will drop a mag. While I am at it I think I am going to go ahead and use some new mags.
